seriously, I think that at the all-star break, if this team does not turn it around and are not within sniffing distance of 3rd place.....Operation Youth Movement should be a go.

First Maxwell with a flippin sneeze and now Mock with a blister.  I'm just waiting until the day one of our prospects goes on the D.L. for staring at the sun too long.

Those numbers are fabulous! If only they would translate to the big leagues.

Clippard was cruising last night with a 7 run lead until the 4th inning where he got lit up for 7 runs (8 total in the inning). He lasted only 4 innings and got 6 Ks. (Columbus won 11-8)

Detwiler was roughed up yet again for 2 runs in 4 innings. The worst part about this start is the fact that he walked 5 batters while striking out only 4. Seems there are some command issues there that need to be addressed pronto. With that ended Potomac's 10 game winning streak.

I was at the game last night and Ross definately struggled the entire time he was on the mound.  He wasn't in his groove at all.  On the other hand Adam Carr was - he smoked some guys with some real gas...too bad he got pegged with the loss and they weren't able to come back.

Burgess and Souza homered for Hagerstown today in a 14-7 Loss.

Burgess has struggled (.222 AVG) but he has 3 HRs and 6 RBIs in the first 16 games.

Souza, who is only 18 years old (turns 19 next week), can play 3B and SS and has gotten off to a decent start. He's batting .281 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs in only 32 ABs.

Where have you read that Souza can play SS?  I've never read that.

Another encouraging development at Hagerstown: Colton Willems had a decent start last night.  He now has a 2.87 ERA in 3 starts.  He's surrendered 5 walks in 15.2 innings while striking out 12.  Not a bad start for him in his first full season.

He played SS today. Maybe he's learning to play the position? Wouldn't you if you were a third baseman in the Nationals' organization?

I think that'd translate to at least 3 or 4 runs in the bigs. Nice outing, though.

No, sir. A righty. He's 29 years old and was in Philly's system the last few years though he was drafted by the Royals in the second round of the '99 draft. Hell, he might be another Winston Abreu or Chris Booker but we'll never know until we give him a chance. At least we know he won't walk guys like many of the relievers we currently have. If he gets beat he is going to make the opposition beat him.  And right now they are not beating him as evident by their .037 AVG against him.

I just realized since we are stacking up on pitchers why don't we get hitters since we score 0 runs half of the games !!!!

We probably will. We needed pitching last season, so now we can look around more for offense. Also, keep in mind that our offense is underachieving at this point.
