This Nats line-up should get us 5 runs a game. Being in a little warmer climate, playing the fish, I hope Marquis goes 6 innings. That should set us up nicely for a Clippard,Storen, and Burnett finish. The bullpen should be counted on for 9 outs. Any more than that and most bullpens are in trouble.

Will Broderick be fine??? I think so. Coffey, Slaten, Gaudin....? :nervous:

Good to see that Spinman is still alive. I hope you got Balester's plane ticket in 4 days ready.

Slaten is looking like he's ready for DFA. Severino, come on down.

PA, really?

Slaten held lefties to a .151 AVG in 2010... back off the ledge a bit.

Fun Fact:  2010 was last year.
Fun Fact - The Sequel:  Major league batters are hitting 1.000 off Slaten in 2011.

EDIT:  And yes I know it's a tiny sample size but it's making us all pretty freaking nervous atm.

Massive suckitude the last game.
So I guess Gaudin, Broderick, Coffey, Slaten, Pudge, Morse, and Ankiel are on the bench too.

I still don't get why you give them a day off AFTER an off day, 3 games into the season and on the same day.

Even more fun fact. 5 batters is the epitome of small sample size.

If the Nats are smart they will " Save" Bally's option and bring him up within 20 days from the start of the season. If the bullpen doesn't start to come through.

What do you mean that it is a small sample? People like SF tell me that 5 PA is more than enough to give an accurate judgment on a player unless his name is Wil or Roger.

That really does look way less intimidating than their lineup looked last year.  No Uggla or Cantu makes me pretty happy.  What about Mike Stanton though?  Is he not playing?

EDIT:  Just looked it up.  Bad hammy.

hate to see a guy like mike stanton get hurt - especially so early in the season - but if he is going to sit out, i'm glad it's against the nats 8)

Thanks, Spin, I forgot about that. They'd need to DFA Coffey because Burnett is too valuable to be a LOOGY.

I would be shocked if we don't win tonight. Zim is taking charge in the clubhouse. He will hit a bomb tonight just to back it up. Marquis is more of a team guy this year. You can tell he's not hurt. Gotta root for the guy. He should do well against the fish. If the bullpen shows up in the 7-9 innings we get a curly W tonite! If not " fish and friends start to smell the same after 3 days!"

The guys gotta get some good climate games in. After the first 10 games we should be 4-6, 5-5 and rollin'. If not, heads will be rollin'!!!

If you are the Lerner's...With lots of veterans on the team, $126,000,000.00 staring at ya for 1 guy and we start out 1-9, 2-8 somebodies gotta go!
We would do better with Balester, Kimball, Carr, Bixler, Milone heck even bring up Harper, bum ankle and all and we will at least field a team with guys that are  P-Off'd for not making the show and they will play hard everyday and not take losing. No more errors, start hitting, sliding hard into bases, pitch inside, get the uniforms dirty and stop the double switch stuff, putting the shift on with the bases loaded. I hope we Play/Manage/Coach/General Manage with an attitude tonite. A Nyger attitude...tonite!

I dunno - I'm about ready for another bases loaded balk.  OK maybe not - I'd be fine never seeing that again in my lifetime.

Can Bally pick up the long relief role for us if Gaudin is moved (either in a trade or to AAA)?
