The Orioles will hand the ball to Steve Trachsel  (1-3, 3.94 ERA), who is winless in his last four starts, to open the series.

The veteran right-hander has not received a decision in his last two appearances, which includes last Saturday's outing against the Boston Red Sox . Trachsel allowed four runs and five hits while walking four in 4 1-3 innings of a 13-4 loss. He has received a combined five support runs in his last four starts.

Washington will counter with Jason Simontacchi (1-1, 5.56), who is coming off his first victory since Sept. 20, 2003. He allowed four runs and eight hits in 5 1-3 innings of a 6-4 win over the Florida Marlins  on Sunday.

The right-hander has made one relief appearance against Baltimore, and overall he is 3-1 with a 5.76 ERA in five starts and eight interleague appearances. Because Simontacchi missed the last two seasons recovering from shoulder surgery, this will be his first time facing the American League since June 17, 2004, when he pitched for St. Louis against Oakland.

Now its time to expose the wOes as a truely awful team..There are down and lets drive the final stake through them and end an potential they might have had for the season......I would love to see the look on their faces and there response it we take this series from them....

Gosh I hate Crapimore and those loser mullet head fans.......They really have become the Arizona Cardinals of MLB.  10 years of being irrelevant....Way to go wOes! Orioles Magic....What a bunch of crap.

Just heard the MLB radio preview of "the battle of the beltway". From the way he talked, you would think the Nats have the Mets record to date, and the Balimor Zero's are KC. So nice to hear something positive for a change!

Edit- Is D-man really starting at 1st? Thought his achilles was too sore except to PH?

Really, you should just let it out, don't hold back like you did here. :D

I would dearly love to make a statement with a series sweep, but I think we are going to find that these AL East foes are really tough.

Give it time. That'll go away. You can't expect the papers to turn their back on 35% of their baseball fans.

Isn't MASN showing the O's feed and MASN2 showing the Nats' feed?

OK, I see that I was wrong. The problem is that the satellite picture on MASN is great, but you have to listen to Dempsey et al. Next to the computer watching on 20 I have the Nats announcers, but a mediocre antennae picture.
But only here do I have WNFF!
