Detwiler is looking a lot like Thornton.

Good call, JCA.

Yeah, I can see that too.  I've thought since Potomac that his eventual future would be as a reliever and I still believe that.  He will probably get a few more shots at starting, but I think he is better suited for the 'pen.

Espinosa has a real good, compact swing.  He can catch up to almost anything with a swing like that.

Blah, blah, blah.  165 Ks in 161.1 IP.  4 to freaking 1 K/BB.  I don't care what service rates what player at what level.  Gee pitched well in AAA this year.  His only weakness was giving up too many hits but his peripherals all suggest that will come down.

And please, don't use a useless stat like ERA when discussing predictive pitching stats.  FIP is okay.
His MLE equivalent FIP is 5.03. The dude is at best mediocre. He shouldn't be dominating a big league lineup. You can keep hiding behind K's, but when was the last time a 24 year old pitcher who was never considered a prospect before had an Almost 5 ERA and over 4 FIP in AAA, then was real good in the big leagues? It doesn't happen.

This happens every time this team tries to go for its 4th win in a row. It seems like they'll finish the season with no more than a 3 game winning streak. That has to be some kind of record.

We are only down 3 runs.  Idk i dont think everything is lost yet.

I'm watching the Mets broadcast, with Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling doing color. They were criticisziong Maya in the 1st, but came around. After those first batters, Mays looked OK. Detwiler...a bit wild.

Looks to me like Dillon Gee can pitch. He seems to have the Nats guessing on every pitch. To reference Warren Spahn, again, pitching is all about throwing off the hitter's timing: throwing the pitch he doesn't expect.

Just about any pitcher can have a good game. This dude is pitching well tonight.

Especially a guy who is a high K/9 guy who doesn't walk many batters going against people that just haven't seen him.  Still had a HR and another near HR.  Good contact the last 2-3 innings.

4.07 FIP as a 24 year old in AAA. Either way, that translates to around 4.50 in the big leagues. Mediocre prospect. This bum shouldn't be dominating the Nats.

Well - maybe the Nats should just quit, then, since they're being dominated by such a terrible pitcher.  Is that what you're trying to say?

They're getting some good swings in but the hits may just not fall tonight - rookie pitcher or not.  That's just baseball.
