May have been a hit and run - without the hit part - I don't particuarly hate it - move him to second, a hit scores a run ... of course, getting caught stealing is not suppose to be part of that plan.

Nationals need to take Baserunning 101.

Oh well, at least we got the lead.  A couple more innings like that one and we are in good shape.

We do not do amazingly well in the fundamentals area.  Now we are all finding out why it was so great that Jamey Carroll was "fundamentally sound."

Maybe.  Soriano didn't score from second on Zimmerman's hit.

Yeah, but with two outs you're running on contact - chances are better -typically it's rare that runners don't score from second on a base hit

Also, Willis' pitch count is already threw the roof, after one inning.  If Kearns doesn't attempt the steal (or hit and run) and Escobar gets a hit, Willis will have to throw even more pitches.

With 2 outs and a runner at first, it would be just as good to force Willis to throw extra pitches.

I can't believe Willis is only hitting .100. Wasn't he a good hitter at one time?

Everything for him is down a bit this year - hitting and pitching (though, not by much - he is still Willis afterall)
