It's not Hairston we even minded fans get upset with (stop trying to use LAC'ers as a defense for everything) it's when they introduce him and Marquis as game changers that pisses people off.

They should get SF to host the pressers

Turnbull has been the forgotten man all along. But that happens when you're first 4 picks were elite names in draft circles. He was a fair pick value wise, just wasn't a big name to draft people.  It never even dawned on me that he was ranked as a top 200 prospect for the draft.

Turnbull reminds me of Detwiler.

Take from that comment what you want.

Unlike you, I don't care what a player makes. I care about production.

So why all the nagging? Jeezus there's circular logic going on here, and I haven't the patience for it.

Then don't participate in it.

Skole's swing looks like Josh Hamilton's. I like it.

Me too, which would be fine if Det was drafted where Turnbull was.

John Havok (Lethbridge AB): Now that all signings have been finalized... top 5 drafts in order?

Jim Callis: Send this question to askba@baseballamerica.com and I'll answer it more in depth. Quick analysis: Nationals, Pirates, Diamondbacks, Red Sox ... not sure yet of No. 5. Jays are close, Beede would have put them over the top. Royals also in running for fifth spot.

Callis also discusses how much each team spent on the draft.  Pirates #1 in bonus money, Nats #1 overall including major league contracts.

http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/2011/08/teams-spend-236-million-on-11-draft/

Quote
The Pirates, who gave a record $8 million bonus to No. 1 overall pick Gerrit Cole and set another mark for non-first-rounders by paying $5 million to second-rounder Josh Bell, spent a total of $17,005,700. That obliterated the old bonus standard of $11,927,200 set by the 2010 Nationals.

The Nationals didn't relinquish that record without a fight, spending $15,002,100 in bonuses. Additional guarantees to Rendon and Purke bring Washington's overall total to $17,602,100. The record for the most guaranteed money spent in a single draft remains $19,118,604 by the 2009 Nationals, the bulk of which was a $15,107,104 big league contract for No. 1 overall pick Stephen Strasburg.

Plus, for you newbs to the Nats farm system (newly signed players, I'm talking to YOU) please note you're invited to visit WNFF anytime, and if you want to spend an hour to introduce yourself to fans of your new club, we'd love for you to do so.  Here's a link to the chats we've had, and we're always looking to do more:

http://www.wnff.net/index.php?board=31.0

Just register and send myself or The Chief a private message, and we'll get you set up.

Why would any newb to the Nats system be reading page 54 of this thread?

That's what happens when you switch your Red Sox mole GM (Ricciardi) for one who wants to do his job (AA).

Ricciardi is from Worcester, but he was never in the Red Sox chain.  Never overlapped with Theo in any organization to my knowledge.  From his wiki:

Quote
Ricciardi went to and played baseball for St. Peter's/St. Peter-Marian High School in Worcester, and then played for the Saint Leo University Lions from 1979 through 1980. He then spent two years as an infielder in the New York Mets minor league system, playing for the Mets' A-class league affiliates in Little Falls in 1980 and Shelby in 1981. He finished his playing career with a batting average below .200.[2]

After the conclusion of his playing career, Ricciardi became a coach in the New York Yankees farm system in the early 1980s before joining the Oakland Athletics organization in 1986 as a minor league instructor and scout. By the early 1990s he had risen to the rank of East Coast Scouting Supervisor and later National Crosschecker. Ricciardi made his break into the front office in 1996, when he became special assistant to Athletics general manager Sandy Alderson. Under new general manager Billy Beane, who was hired in 1997 and had been Ricciardi's former teammate with the Little Falls Mets,[3] his role became Director of Player Personnel.

I had some Canook tell me there was a conspiracy theory about him because he was supposedly a long-time Red Sox fan.

Probably bullcrap, but I like :stir:

Really, I think AA is just more competent.  Ricciardi was the one who said Dunn wasn't that valuable back when he was a beast.

I'd have been happy to proof read it for him.

Savy?  WTF?  Even a spell check would have found that one.

Harper, Rendon, etc. are all entering their best years.

Drew Storen is feeling savy in the bullpen.
