I like the QAT.  Also, the command prompt and command prompt as admin are useful.

Actually, Xbox360 might be a reason to use a zune pass perhaps.

yup.

its very accessible.

beyond that, I really like the Zune Marketplace, always have. and the Zune Pass service is really nice.

but mostly I am talking about using Zune as my main source of buying music. as long as I am not using Zune Pass, I can use any MP3 player right?

You can use the 10 keeper downloads per month that you get with Zunepass with any MP3 player too.

While I'm glad that's a focus, I'm more curious how fast it can boot with PGP Wholedisk.

Wouldn't that be more of a function of the third-party encryption product and the system CPU?

Also, I know I'm being a snob here, but "Symantec, blegh! :spaz: "

Yeah, I would imagine. It takes forever.

Haven't had the best experiences with PGP.

Ever considered trying TrueCrypt?

Trying to get faster boot times has always been such a waste of resources for me...unless people are booting their computer hundreds of times a day.

it makes sense in an ultra light that you're opening and closing throughout the day

Are you installing it virtually or natively?

:?

I want to do a dual boot along side 7, I just shrunk my 7 partition by 100GB and formatted it for the install when it gets done.

Natively, it'll run setup.exe from within 7 and (presumably) do an "upgrade" of sorts - though I'm probably going to cancel here in a second and set up a spare partition to run it on.

I sure hope this is an extremely rough draft, because so far I hate it.

This is what comes up if I click the start menu button or hit the windows key:

This is what the desktop looks like, but it tries really hard to make you go back to metro mode (clicked links launch in IE in metro mode):
