With Letterman retiring and Leno gone, I suddenly feel old. Olberman's tribute (via deadspin) is really good

I hope CBS takes a chance on Ferguson there. It won't work for everyone, but his show is great.

I have mixed feelings on Ferguson in Letterman's stead. On the one hand, I think his show is good and it's the only one I can stand on the regular. On the other hand, I don't think he'd be able to get away with his style as much in that spot and it wouldn't appeal to as wide an audience.

Of course no one cares what I think any way and I don't think he'll be up for that spot any way, but just my take. It's funny that Seinfeld pitched a similar show about "nothing", but I feel like that describes Ferguson even more. A talk show about nothing. Good show though.

Fallon's tribute/top ten list was really nicely done.  I'm guessing CBS steps away from the "white guy" format and picks someone like Tina Fey.  Kennan Thompson might be an interesting pick too.

Edit - there are reports that CBS is negotiating with Chelsea Handler of E! network for the Letterman slot.

I'm pretty sure they're going to intercut books 4 and 5 just so they aren't leaving out characters for seasons at a time.  Therefore, I would expect her to head across the water and start her training this season, likely by episode 5 or 6.  They said they wanted this to be a more action packed season than last year, so I expect they'll be trying to have a major event or death every show. So you've got Oberyn/Mountain, Joffrey's wedding, Sansa going to the Aerie, Tyrion's arrest and escape, Tywin's death, and Daenerys sacking the town she's approaching. That's just to finish book three basically. Can't remember if the Wildling attack on Castle Black is book 3 or 4.

The question is what they are going to do for poor Bran. They're running out of content to use for him. Book 6 needs to come fast!

I believe I read somewhere in passing that Martin has given the broad outline of the story to the writers at HBO so they can go on if he's too slow or dies.

Game of Thrones:

People who deserve to live:

Davos Seaworth.
Jorah Mormont.
Jon Snow.
To an extent, Tyrion Lannister:

Who should die already:

Basically everyone else.

So is anyone watching "Hannibal"? I'm not sure I've ever seen a better show. Which is ironic because I never really cared for the movies too much.
