Jesse English to AAA to make room for Bernadina is official per Ben Goessling :?

Down to 11 pitchers?  I think we may see the end of Willy T. if his bat doesn't heat up soon.

batista/bruney/taveras should've been sent down.
Do any of those guys have options?

Are they ever going to DL our hurt position players?

I can't believe they think its a good idea to cary a bench full of day-to-day fielders over 12 pitchers.

Quote
English performed well in the first seven games of his big-league career, posting a 3.86 ERA and faring well against some tough left-handed sluggers like the Phillies' Ryan Howard.

But the Nats needed to add another position player to account for nagging injuries to Ryan Zimmerman, Willie Harris and Ivan Rodriguez. And with off-days coming up Thursday and Monday, the club can afford to go with a six-man bullpen for a little while.

"This isn't a demotion," general manager Mike Rizzo said of English, who had never pitched above Class AA before making the Opening Day roster. "This is a strategic roster move, because we feel we need to get a healthy position player in here. It wasn't for anything that he did poorly. He pitched fine."

What's the point?  Over/under on Bernadina's plate appearances is 0.5 :?

The point is Roger has put up a .967 OPS at AAA so far and is a good base runner (7 of 9 SB so far).  I'm guessing he'll start a game, pinch run/hit a couple of times, and maybe stick around if he does something with it.

I'm just annoyed because they never seem to give him a sustained opportunity.  If they don't this time, it was a waste of an option for Jesse English.

When we call English back up - notice the WHEN not IF - Taveras needs to go down.  Then we can lose Batista/Bruney for Morse.

The Nats have made me very, very happy.  When Ron Santo whines about the umpire, its a good night.  Thank you!

Great win.

Even better watching it with my girlfriend who's a Cubs fan.

Needless to say, the game ended... I was informed that I 'wasn't getting any, because of the Nats' and all I could do was smile and say 'scoreboard'.

Oddly enough, she left my house 5 minutes later.

:lmao:  I was in the same boat last night, but only because I made my girlfriend watch 3 horus of baseball every night this week. She won't admit it, but I think she is slowing warming up to baseball. I at least convinced her to go to a couple games with me this summer.

It was the right move even thought it sucks. English is a gamer.

Just a guess - They are waiting another few days for Willie H.  They would not need a 7th bullpen arm until Saturday at the earliest.  If they then DL Willie, it can be backdated to last Saturday and they can call up an extra arm.  If Willie is good, Bernardina goes back down.

So both RZ and Willie can't be back dated much. 7th arm isn't used that much.  The roles seem to be Capps takes the ball from Clippard, Burnett is the loogy, Bruney and Walker are the middle guys, and Batista is the long man / bullpen saver.  That'll work for a while.

At this point I think it's spelled loogie.
