Finally over. Figures that Lidge who is usually unhittable blows it.

I'm convinced the NL might not ever win one again after watching this one. What a great game.

Lidge is garbage.
Those of us who live in Texas have known that for years. Since before we were born, in fact. There is a "knowledge of Brad Lidge's suckiness" gene in certain populations in the southern United States which has been inherited for generations in anticipation of his sucky arrival.

No he was safe.

I don't think it mattered. The ump would have called him safe regardless.

I wish Hart had thrown the runner out because this game could not have gone more than another inning.

Corey Hart made a good throw but he sure seemed to have taken his time getting rid of the ball.

Lidge was weak. Terrible performance walking the winning run to 3B.

His arm did not impress me. A better throw gets Morneau at the plate.

as I said before ...

I wish the game kept going on, so they would screw Bud Selig - who again - screwed us by giving us the Lerners.

damn, now our Nats are gonna have to go on the road in the world series after they go 50-16 to finish the season and make the playoffs!

 :woop: :woop:

edit: i don't even thinking going 50-16 would qualify for the playoffs lol.

How would Bud Selig be screwed by a longer game?

He didn't seem to have enough on it. It wasn't perfectly on line, but if he got it there earlier, it McCann likely makes the tag given how close it was. But as it was, his glove didn't get out to the 3B side of the plate. Oh well, heck of a game. Didn't like some of Hurdle's decisions, but the NL really blew some chances. Uggla looked like a disaster out there. I don't really understand how he became an allstar to begin with. He's an all or nothing hitter against bad pitches.

b/c he probably would've come out and called the game a tie.

BRAVO TO GUZY FOR THE SMOOTH TRANSITION TO 3B!

NEVER played 3b in his career and he was silky, looked like a natural!

it's not your fault Hurdle is an idiot and commands you to bunt when you lead the league in hits and are a certified hitting machine!

btw, Dukes and his cannon arm would've easily thrown out Morneau at the plate.

Hey guys!  Where's the love for my boy Danny "Mr. LOB" Uggla?

Oh, that's right, is had a streak between May 10 to the 23 that had some proclaiming him a wonderful ballplayer.  He's since returned to form going 31 for 129 (.240) with 48 Ks (every 2.69 ABs).  And he only left 6 guys on base with his Amazing Huevo Whiffer Swing (I think he bought that sucker from RonCo) - he almost made his quota.  But,  he did make up for it with errors to hit his quota of LOB+E of 9 and LOB+E+K of 12.  Ain't he amazing? Sometimes he really provides value for your entertainment dollar by leaving guys on who never friggin' reached in the first place.  Whoo-Friggin'-Hooo!!!

Other than the short stretch in May, in his last 288 games he is 250 for his last 1022 (.247) with 284 Ks since starting his slump on August 30, 2006. 23 HR and 25 2B this year, and yet has only driven in 26 out of 201 baserunners.  When it counts, he Ks.  You may have noticed that even in the derby, all his HR were solo shots.  If they had stuck one of those kids on second base, Uggla would have swung and missed 10 times.

You have way too much hate for a player who has been no less than a star for you guys this season. What matters most is how a player does on the overall. Uggla has easily been one of the top 25 hitters in the majors this season (.979 OPS!!) and he has helped a team that was expected to be one of the worst in the majors to actually have playoff hopes this late in the season. Not bad for a Rule V guy who wasn't supposed to be anything more than a role player.

Would you rather have Belliard? He doesn't strike out too much. We can make that deal straight up if you're cool with it. :D

I dunno about that, Dukes' arm is pretty nice thrown out a few guys this season. Bernadina would've airmailed it.

I was looking for Guz to swing away instead of bunt

You've also been duped by the meaningless solo shot, huh?  He's not a star, and is mediocre at best.  The purpose is to produce runs, and Uggla fails miserably.  He's the master of the choke.  He's driven in less than half the runners he should have.  The Marlins have the 4th lowest OBP in the NL (.007 above the Nats), and yet Uggla is going to likely to run away with leading MLB in LOB (that also indicates a dumb lineup put together by Fredi, who, if he had a brain, would put Uggla in the 7th or 8th hole where his ineptitude at driving guys in won't be so detrimental to the team - Matt Treanor is almost 4 times as likely to drive in a baserunner as is Uggla, so the argument can be made to bat Uggla 8th).  When Andino with his .562 OPS fills in for him, batting primarily in the #8 slot, the run production from 2B nearly doubles.

Don't get to excited about his OPS, either.  It all came early this year.  He usually saves the 10-games/season of competence for late July before falling off the cliff.  Since it came early this year, it has a larger impact on his season-to-date stats, and he is in full plunge.  If he follows his usual MO, he'll put up an OPS from .650 to .750 for the rest of the year as he Ks more and more often, and few meaningful RBI.  Uggla can add on in meaningless situations, but he about the last guy you want up with the game on the line (though he does have 2 game winning hits).  He the biggest reason the Marlins have such a high standard deviation of R/game (they are -28 in RS/RA).

I don't have any problems with the solo shots.  What I can't stand about Uggla is that he leaves the guys on base nearly 90% of the time.  I'm not exactly pleased with the K every third AB, either.
