I don't think Manning should face Lee here. :?

Edit: Good call, Manny!

I love Manning as a situational guy, the problem is that we don't have a bullpen full of reliable guys so our would be situational guys end up getting used in situations other than, well, situations.

Colome is the reliever version of Daniel Cabrera.

Haha. You respond to that every time. I agree, but I have to be satisfied w/ one guy in the 'pen doing something consistently well. :?

Haha, I see it.  How many of our relievers do you see back with the team next year?

This team is such a freaking joke. Manny's stupid ass should be canned immediately. Anyone who does not think he is a bad manager does not know baseball.

Shell (young), Hanrahan (young), and Saul (consistent) should all still be here. If Rauch doesn't get traded, him too.

Edit: And maybe Manning.

Another solid start by OP today.
He's freaking garbage trash.

The whole team has been a no-show two days in a row now. Poor defense, abysmal hitting, and awful pitching.

Colome is brain dead as is his domincan buddy Manny.

Backe is in line for a complete game shut-out. That piece of crap loser would get rocked by many high school teams.

We're in trouble if that's the case. The bullpen (and offense) needs a complete revamping.

What do you expect out of starters?!! 3 runs in 6 innings is solid enough. That's what you want out of your starters. Regardless of how the runs score or how the pitcher freaks up early, if he doesn't let the big inning happen and only gives up 3 runs, he's done his job.

At least 2 of those runs should not have scored.

Perez took all the life out of the team by giving them an early hole. As you know, when this team gets down early they mail it in for the rest of the game.

Regardless our offense is worse than high school and Manny and Bowden should be appropriately canned.

That means nothing to me b/c he prevented them from scoring 5-10 runs. With their offense, 5-10 runs should be expected against "freaking garbage trash" Perez, right? You can't blame the pitcher for the offense not showing up. If being down by 2 or 3 runs early means they get down on themselves and can't score, that's their problem.

Perez has been great all season. WAY better than anyone could have anticipated.

Perez and Redding have been money for us this year.  They have helped our youngsters and have given us a chance to win almost every game.  The best apart their situation is that they will be commodities come trading time or if we don't like the offers, keep 'em around here.

But as far as getting pwned by Backe, it's like what do you expect.  As I've said a million times, injuries are on thing, but if you're not going to spend money @ the MLB level then this is what you should expect to get.

Sure we have a glut of pitching prospects, but other than Marrero/Burgess (who won't see the big leagues until 2010 @ the earliest) we don't have too many stud hitters.  Leonard Davis came out of nowhere we'll see how he does.  Bill Rinehart seems like an interesting play.  All of our 2b/ss prospects are years from reaching the bigs.

That's why I say you make a deal for Holliday and get him signed for a multi year contract.

Doesn't someone have to get dropped from the 40-man roster once Wagner is activated?

12th shutout (according to WTOP). We lead the league in being shutout!

Here it comes Nats, you earned it.

This crap sucks. I'm glad it's All Star Break. I wish it were the end of the season. Thanks Nats for a great season of baseball.

only 4 pages on a gameday thread.
good thing the Lerners don't care about alienating the fan base.

I wouldn't be here because I stopped watching the game after the Nats 3rd DP (against), but I wanted to know the final score (not the outcome) and my FiOs is stuck in the 7th inning for some reason.

You know, Cy Young, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson all died long before I was born.  But the 2008 Nats line up at least gives me the chance to see how they might have looked when they were mowing down their opponents.  Strange how the Nats are always the remedy for the woes of the opposition's worst starter.

Yep, or they will move someone like Hill to 60-day DL.  I currently count 41 players on the 40 man roster, but maybe they haven't updated Cordero to the 60 day DL, yet.

Cordero's already on the 60-day DL. If a player has to be dropped, my guess is that it'd be Sanches.

That's what I thought, his MLB bio page and the Nationals webpage still say 15 day DL.

Another solid start by OP today.

His biggest problem today was that 0-2 pitch to Berkman. It wound up costing him 2 runs. Otherwise he was as OK as a nibbler can get. I can't stand guys that nibble and refuse to challenge hitters.

If I play enough, I edit players as the season goes on. I've had to create a few as well. I still think The Show is the better game. I do try them all out every season, though.

As always, I'm starting to think a lot about Madden now that its release date is only about a month away.

AUGUST 14!!!  :woop: :woop: it's about time to start counting down the days...

i don't wanna brag, but i'm a BEAST at madden.
