My manager for the 45+ team I play for makes Matt Williams look like he belongs in MENSA.     :smh:

Found out the two best players on my Men's team love to play the infield. They've been watching me butcher 3rd for the past couple of years and haven't said anything. SMH. I've been ready to move off 3rd for about two years. My team's about to get better.

For now. Might move around based on needs from week to week. May move to 1B long term, don't think he'll be playing too many more seasons.

Lost 6-5 today and took a wild pitch off the knee.  Plus, struck out looking in the 7th.

Not a good day today....

Much better day today. Started a 6-4-3 double play. Went 1/2 with a reached on error and an RBI HBP. Scored a run. Won 13-10 so we're 2-0 now.

2/4 with a run scored.  Hit into a double play via popup/incompetent runner.  Now 3-0.

So a few weeks back, I somehow lost my infielders mitt (a fairly nice Wilson A-700) and ended up playing 3B with my catchers mitt.  It didn't go badly (I was error free) but the umpire said that if the opposing manager ever takes issue with it, my mitt could be determined to be illegal.

So I am  now in the market for a new non-catchers mitt.

Looking at Nokona or Rawlings - non-trapeze pocket.

Thoughts?

I'm a Wilson man all the way.  Get another one!

Funny you should mention that....

I stopped by "Play It Again Sports" to pick up some more pine-tar and found a used Rawlings GG for $50 so I made the leap of faith and purchased it.  I love it so far and even then bought some Neatsfoot oil to condition it.

Playing SS tonight so I'll let you know how it does.

EDIT - NVM, it's a Louisville TPX.  It's still a nice one - it came down to the TPX and the Rawlings and I went with the TPX since it felt better on my hand.

The A-700 was o.k. but I am pleased with the new purchase.  I'd post a photo but I cannot since I don't use Instagram or whatever the freak Chief makes us use now...

Most Rawlings guys I know don't like the fact that the Wilson's fold is off-center.

That's what I like about this particular mitt I got - the fold seems to be centered between the index and middle fingers and not at the pocket.

Wilson's are closer to the thumb side. I used an A2000 but shifted my hand one hole towards the pinkie. I could wear a smaller glove without sacrificing the large glove pocket.

I can't believe I put it out there that I was going to be playing SS tonight and you didn't take any shots at me.

Nah, Short is easier than third when you're old.

Nice to play sluggishly and still get an easy win. Had the worst inning we've had in probably 3 years. Fortunately the other team was rubbish and we were able to rebound. I haven't had a good at bat since before Memorial Day...
