Speigner looks to build off his best outing in five starts this season, a 3-1 win on Saturday over his former organization. Selected from Minnesota in last December's Rule 5 Draft, Speigner allowed just two hits in a career-high six innings for his first career win as a starter. His first quality start was also the first time he allowed fewer than four earned runs as a starter. With his sinker working well, Speigner retired 15 of the final 17 batters he faced and didn't face more than four batters in any inning. He had a 14.44 ERA in his previous four starts.

Marcum continued his stellar run as a member of Toronto's rotation on Saturday, when he blanked the Dodgers for 6 2/3 innings en route to his third win of the year. The right-hander allowed seven hits, but escaped a handful of jams and finished with four strikeouts and no walks. In six turns as a starter, Marcum has gone 2-0 with a 2.34 ERA. He's tallied 28 strikeouts versus 12 walks in 34 2/3 innings over that span. Marcum has never faced Washington in his young career.

We gotta take this series. I didn't mind the Jays fans last night, but I sure didn't like them. They really know nothing about baseball. Anyways, hopefully Vale' has found the magic touch.

By the way even though we lost last night, i had an awesome time! I got all 4 of my favorite players autographs (Zimmerman, Nook, Belly, Jesus C) and I added Nicky J in there for good measure. My favorite by far was Belly. He was great. He flicked me a piece of bazooka just for the hell of it probably b/c i was a Nat fan. Then i yelled "Start Ronnie at first" after Young made an error, and he looked at me laughed and gave me a thumbs up. Ronnie is a cool guy, i really thought he'd be one of the players not open to autographs but he was one of the most fan friendly players at least to me.

I'm sort of not really contemplating going to the game tomorrow, since Belly always starts on Sundays. I probably won't though.

edit: What do ya know?! Belly is starting at SS today and batting LEAD-OFF! Nice job Manny!

I like today's lineup, hopefully they can plate at least 5-6 runs.

More would be nicer, but 5 or 6 works... Thing is, Speigner still scares the bejezus outta me when he starts

me too, minus Rob starting.

Another blurb from last night's experience, I really sympathize with Young. He was getting it from the fans about how fat he is and everything, and I just feel bad for the guy. I know  rip him too but last night it actually seem to bother him when someone said "You're to fat for first base Young". Good to see him having an awesome yr against all odds.

p.s. I'm not fat, I'm a skinny lanky 18 yr old.

If Vale has a start like he did vs the Twins i will put him a step up on the ladder atop of Bascik.

LOL Speigner has had one quality start and you go gaga? At least Bacsic has had three QS in his six starts.

To be fair, is last two outings have actually been pretty good - the defense let him down big time the start before last - the bottom half of the first here will pretty much tell us how this game is going to go ....
