Winston Abreu pitching.  Gives up a double to blow the lead.  Vulture.  I agree, Winston should be met in the dugout by a punch in the face from Chico.  If we wanted a Putz, we would have traded for him.

Nationals 3

I know, nats2playoffs was blaming Abreu for giving up a double while it was actually just some absolutely horrendous luck

If anybody deserves a punch in the face, it's that umpire.   :?

I just can't believe there isnt some rule that is similar to a ground rule double...if the ball hits the umpire on the infield its just an automatic single or something like that. It is what it is, but I do think Lopez would have at least knocked it down and prevented the run from scoring with Peavy on deck.

I didn't actually see it.  Just got mad at the tie score.  I heard them talking about the umpire getting in the way, but they said it would have been a hit anyway.  Would Bard have scored from 2nd on a single?  If not, then apologies to Abreu, who I actually like.

It would have been close, but we'll never know I guess.

A few scoreless innings from Peavy and I move from 5th to 3rd to a 3-way tie for 3rd in the Forum A.D. league, as The Chief finally jumps into 1st place for the moment - and drops back out again.  NOTLD moves into a tie for 9th.  That league is now completely wide open. I think I had 71.5 points and an enormous lead at one time.  I knew all along that my pitchers were mediocre, including Peavy.

Guzman on base again....

We say whatever to Jake. 10 hits off of him. Looks like Chico pitched another solid game. Tied up, i can't see Jake going into the 8th.

Yo 2K6, maybe you should add Dmitri back to your sig. He's on fire!

The Padres have 9 hits and we have 10 and the score is tied.  I fully expected to lose this one.  Peavy strikes a LOT of guys out this year and he's at 7.  But he's at 112 pitches and they played extra innings last night.  We hit him better than any team this year, so I think we can win now.... Just as long as we don't SCREW UP!!  Focus... focus...  say what?

OK, I'm glad Manny's decision to leave Saul in panned out.  Now if only we can plate a run and get the ball to the Chief!

I know the offense has failed in critical spots but I wasn't pleased with what Chico gave us tonight.

Can we please give Kearns back to Cincy?? He is absolutely horrid, by far the worst starter on the team.

Goodness gracious that was horrible by Kearns. Didn't even give Logan a chance to steal second.

Dmitri Young sets a Nationals record and ties a franchise record with his 7th  consecutive hit.  I was promoting this guy as a comeback-of-the-year possibility in spring training.  He's now batting .322. Leaves for a PRunner.

That was hard to watch. Swinging at the first pitch with you fastest runner at first.
