WNFF OOTP League
« Topic Start: October 26, 2012, 01:31:52 PM »
Alright guys, there has been some interest in this, so lets talk about more in here.

We would need at least 28 teams to make it right. There would be two main drafts: prospect draft and MLB player draft.

We would either need to have one commissioner do all the lineup changes, etc, or 28 of us would have to have OOTP software and work it ourselves.

We can just pick up regular MLB teams and forgo the draft process, but A. everyone would want the Nats and B. competitive blanace would suck.

We also may as well wait for OOTP 13 to come out. And we'd have to figure out where teams play; we cant have 10+ DMV teams!

Looks like they're running a special during the World Series for $20.

Its sim, so the initial inputs are based on current rosters, but just beacuse Strasburg ks 9 in a given game doesn't mean he will in the sim

I can commit to $20, but how does that work with 28-30 owners.

If we fall short, say, 12 owners, could we pick from the 15 remaining NL teams?

If I pick a roster, can I still play "WNFF League" matches against DPMOmaha?

No, it'll be a full, simulated schedule and you'll play everyone like a real MLB team.

We really need at, bare minimum, 24 owners to make it fun.

I'm interested. I plan on purchasing this later tonight or tomorrow. Which OOTP are we using? The World Series one with the deal?

Also, are they real players or fake players?

I jumped in and bought OOTP '13, for $19.99 - wanted to grab it before they realized that the WS was over and jumped it back up to $39.99.

What's next?

I bought it too.... I just don't quite know what to do next. I think I'm managing a low A team now....

I've downloaded it but haven't paid up through the installation yet.

Who's in, folks? Looks like we got about 7 people?

The alternative is to do a fictional baseball league with 8-12 teams, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure there's no way to use the pool of real MLB players in a totally fictional league universe, so we'd all be dealing with imaginary players we'd never heard of.

Doesn't matter to me, just want to be sure it's worth it before I buy it.

I have OOTP 11 and can verify it's a hell of a lot of fun. Basically, you get to be Mike Rizzo and even Davey if you so choose - you are in charge of all rosters, transactions, trades, free agent negotiations, and if you want you can manage every single game too. I haven't played it in a long time because of a lack of free time, but I love the game.

Yeah, it's a ton of fun even without us having a league in place. I always start with the 94 Expos
