Wang coming back?.........thanks for the warning.
« Topic Start: September 03, 2012, 11:53:22 AM »
I saw in the Post today that Chin Mieng Wang is being recalled to the club. The most telling thing in the article was that he could be used "if they need an arm in a blow out or if they run out of pitchers".
This was probably one of Rizzo's few mistakes......investing millions in a lost venture like Wang.
He was getting clobbered in AA. When his sinker doesn't sink it's just BP!

We didn't invest that much, I don't think it was a bad gamble. It didn't work out.

He was looking pretty good in spring training before his re-injury. Probably a mirage but whatever.

I'll admit, I'm still a Wang fanboi...though the appreciation is mostly in the past tense at this point.

It has to be a concern if crap is coming out of Wang

I'd pitch him if we were losing 9-0 or in the 23rd inning. Not any other time.

I would be more concerned if crap wasn't coming out of him.

I saw him pitch Saturday night. The sinker doesn't sink. The Bowie Baysox hit a couple of home runs and scored about six runs of of CMW in the first two innings. Might have been worse if Brian Goodwin had not made a running catch on a line drive hit almost to the CF wall.

I don't remember a ground-ball out, but I quit keeping score after the first home run.

CMW...was terrific with the Yankees...pitched and won big games...but I think he is finished.

Well there was that time at RFK, On Father's Day. Ryan Zimmerman up. 2 out. Bottom of the 9th...

I was just going to post that.
I was at a Wang-pitched game last year and he pitched very well.
That was the game, I think, with Bixler sliding safely home in the bottom of the ninth for the win.

When his sinker is working he's good.  When not, not.

Mo got lit up that weekend as well.  That was like the high point of the whole season.

It is "conceivable" that Chien-Ming Wang gets a start in next few weeks, Davey said. Would be vs predominantly right-handed hitting teams

This proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that Davey likes to lose games.

Yup. Just look at Davey's career win-loss record.

burr chills up my spine. There was a reason he was put on the DL or sent down to the Minors. He has stunk this season, and has been more of a burden on the team than an asset. Forgettabouthim. We have 5 good starters, an excellent  bull pen OK they slip up some every once in a while but still we wouldn't be in 1st or have a :w:  Season if our pitching sucked like it had and like Wang has been this season.

I thought Lanan was bad last season even though I have liked him, and he at least had improved some this season enough that I don't cringe whenever he started. ON the other hand whenever Wang has pitched at all I have cringed with every pitch.

Someone's sarcasm detector is on the fritz...

It is true though, all sarcasm aside, that it will take a herculean effort by the rest of the team to win a game that Wang starts or even plays in, for that matter.
