imagine if we trade desmond to them, who then goes on to put up .280 / .350 15/15.

Cain is hitting 16/32, .500.

Can't imagine the Royals being unhappy with him.

thought this was cool (chief/mods if you think this belongs in farm, please be my guest):

MLB to run league for unsigned Dominican players

NEW YORK (AP) -- Major League Baseball says it's creating a new league for amateur players in the Dominican Republic.

The league is designed to showcase the top players who will become eligible to sign with a major league club after July 2, and players who are already eligible to sign professional contracts.

The games will be held on Thursdays at major league academies in the Dominican Republic.

Major League Baseball says the league will include "an educational component" for the players, and the coaching staff will run clinics for younger players throughout the country.

The new league was announced on Thursday.

Joba almost died playing on a trampoline with his kid.

Yikes. Season ender... may be a career ender as well.

Joba Chamberlain lost so much blood Thursday when he hurt his ankle while playing with his son that there initially was concern for his life, a Yankees' source said.

Quote
Chamberlain's son, Karter, who is five years old, was unhurt, Cashman said. When Chamberlain was hurt, bone was sticking out of his ankle and he was bleeding profusely, a team source said. Paramedics were called and Chamberlain was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Sorry to hear that about Joba.  His career path might make an interesting movie about potential and how it can go off track.

That sounds incredibly painful.  Hope he can get healed up and back on the mound.  Always liked that kid and seemed to really have turned things around from his DUI a couple of years ago.

Tough for his son to have to have seen that too.  Kids often carry that stuff around for a long time.

By Mike Stanton not living up to his 500HR potential?  Me for starters.  I haven't been this excited for a position player to develop since Ken Griffey Jr. back in 1989.  There is nothing funny or good about a player's career being destroyed, unless it's Chase Utley.
