It's just a bad ump. He can't see the low or the outside strikes. He's guessing. I've been reading a lot about this problem in the majors.
It's embarrassing. This is Major League freaking Baseball not Little League.  That pitch split the plate right in half and was plenty high enough.  The Umpires have way too much of a say in terms of who wins or loses ballgames. It's complete bullcrap. I want instant replay for every close play and all strike/ball calls should be automated.

If that happens, I vote for Mock.
Definitely Mock.

It's a shame to see Hill continue to have pain really.  Couldn't happen to a nicer guy and he has so much talent.  You never want to see anyone hurt especially a guy who has so much promise.

I will say though this umpire isn't doing the Nats any favors.  The same pitch they called a strike on Dukes, they didn't on Barrett.  Should be a 2-0 game.  Also could help if Felipe Lopez didn't stink and Dmitri Young could drive the ball out of the infield with one out.

Flores is an excellent hitter. He's 10x better than last season.

Damn, he hit that ball hard, too. Unlucky there. I wish he would have gotten under that one.

I get home and the Nats are up 2-0, and then Hill blows up and becomes a walk machine.  Lighting votive candle and turning off the tube.

Out, Ali

Tyler Clippard seems like the clear choice.

Mock's ERA is better, I would take him. But they're almost identical, so either way is fine.

Dukes Ks. Nats should be up 5-0, instead it's 2-2 and the Padres are up to bat looking to put the game away.

Alright, this is Hill's last inning unless he gets out in 3 pitches.

Seriously, that pitch was perfectly down the middle. Dead center of the plate and just above the knee.

Randy Wolf is definitely hittable so the game isn't out of reach yet for the Nats.

I'm okay with Mock, Clippard or Balester.  Just please don't call up a retread.

This game is over.  Hill is done.  Colome will come in, get shelled.  No offense at all.

Seems like we get whored with terrible umps a lot. That pitch was a clear strike and to call it a ball is robbery. Disgusting. And what's sad is that I'm almost sure that Colome will come in and get shelled.

He should be out of the game IMO.

It's just a terrible situation for us. Hill looks like crap but the alternatives (Jesus Colome) are not any better.
