No, a little wind and a little rain.  Just uncomfortable walking from the parking lot from getting blasted in the face.  Should be out of here soon, just about finished up what has to be done today and I'm not staying for anything other than that.

Seriously? That's a strange arrangement.

My next door neighbor can't flush unless he has power, since his septic field is uphill from the house.

Mine is downhill, have water can flush.

I know I'm tempting fate, but I'm thrilled that I still have power. Normally, around here, a light zephyr with clear air, visibility unlimited, and the power is flickering.

Fingers crossed.

Home weather station says 2.8" of rain so far, and wind steady at about 5, but gusting to 15. That sound right? I think it gets sheltered between the houses a bit....

People are overreacting, it's not that bad.  We had worse storms this summer.

Holy freak that wind is insane.  I was doing 30 with the wind at my back and leaves and debris were going past me, so at least 30 mph sustained here

Got some flickers here, hope the power stays on for the next 40 minutes, got a cake in the oven!

Wish I had a gas stove :(

I have a gas range and a gas oven, but the controls are electronic on the oven

I still have internet which is a minor miracle. Wind is gusting pretty seriously. I walked the dog at 6 and crap was getting real then. We put a mattress on a floor in the basement room with no windows.

Or rename it Storen and it will stay clear of the projected strike zone.

the next hour or so will be heavy winds, then it's supposed to die down, but the rain will pick up.  just really odd how that is going to happen.

if we make it to 5 am, we should be in the clear.  but again it seems like the worst stuff is right now or on the way shortly.

still have power (cross fingers, knock on wood), everyone be safe.

Nope.

Wind has picked up here. I can't see much, though. Pretty sure I heard a tree crack. Surprisingly loud.

Not sure if anyone was watching weather channel around 7:30 - 7:45, but it might have been the funniest thing I've seen on TV in real time.  Cantore was down at battery park, and the tide was coming over the seawall.  He was talking to Norcross, their hurricane expert.  Cantore was saying if the tide came in much more than another couple of feet, he was going to need to pack up and leave. Norcross said something like the tide was going to add another foot, so cantore said, if it is only another foot, I can stay.  Then norcross says something like well, this is going to still be bigger than the alltime record set in 1821 for that spot.  At this point, Cantore is confused, so he asks how much more water is going to be here?  Norcross then starts talking about something else, and Cantore asks how much more water, am I going to need to get my crew out of here?  Norcross just keeps talking to Cantore, can you see the lights in Jersey City?  What direction is the wind?  When the wind shifts, it will pile up tide.  This goes on for 15 minutes. Norcross either isn't paying attention or does not otherwise get what Cantore is asking him.  Cantore says, well, I see the water in the past 10 minutes since we've been on has come up to the bottom of the park bench here, and that is how high water got with Irene, so do I need to get out of here with my crew?   I don't think Norcross ever figures out what he was asking, and finally Cantore just says, we're packing up.

7:45, FIOS gave out and came back.
