very heavy wind/rain now, lights are flickering.

The worst of the storm is hitting NJ, will be here in a few hours.  The next 12 hours will be the heaviest per CWG.

Our power flickered once and we have underground lines!
My sump pump is definitely working for now, but its not exactly stressed yet.

Our lines are underground too but I think they're connected on a grid to a section of Herndon which has overhead wires.    I guess as Herndon goes, we go.

What kind of cake? Mmmmm....cake.

That's one good thing, we have a gas stove, but probably won't lose power anyway since our lines are buried.

Everything is closed around here and the veggie dogs in the fridge aren't appealing to AtBC and our mega-carnivore friend staying with us for the storm, so maybe I should just make a cake and then one of us will be happy.  :mg:

Pineapple upside-down cake, I always make sure to keep a can of pineapple around just so I can make it :mg: my absolute favorite cake! And it's easy since you don't have to frost it, so you can eat it right out of the oven.

This recipe is the one I'm using - just replace shorting with butter and you can lower the amount of butter in the glaze by replacing some of it with leftover pineapple juice. And I chop up the extra pineapple I have and mix it into the batter :)

More flickers...

Or rename it Storen and it will stay clear of the projected strike zone.

 My generator runs the lights and fridges. I'm not firing up the Xbox or anything.

My next door neighbor can't flush unless he has power, since his septic field is uphill from the house.

Mine is downhill, have water can flush.

Oh right, it runs the water as well. Well water, and septic field is uphill.
