Kobernus looks like a star in the making. Hopefully Rizzo isn't thinking of him as a trading piece.

I'd like to see him up his plate discipline and put on a few pounds of muscle to get around 10-12 HR's a year... maybe become a Jason Bartlett type player.

I know coming out of college Kobernus was compared to Casey Blake... but he seems a lot faster and with a lot less power.

Holy crap!

With that size he may develop a little pop as well. Maybe he can become a CF or LF if need be.

Brain Roberts - 5' 9", 175 lbs.  Kobernus has 5" and 35 lbs on him.

just because he's bigger than him, doesn't mean they don't have the same game.  (not saying you are implying that)

While Roberts had a few years with some pop, you'd think Kobernus's frame would eventually give him more power.

Great to see him doing well. He was one of those guys at potomac that always spent a lot of time signing autographs and talking to fans

the early projection was he'd be a 15 HR guy after he was drafted ... it looks like he's shown more speed and less pop ... but it's not a terrible thing.

Why stop there?  Let's compare him to Jeff Kent and Rogers Hornsby.

Jon (DC): Jeff Kobernus is tearing up AA. What do you see his ceiling as (regular?) and what are his chances of getting there?

Jim Callis: His ceiling is as a decent, maybe solid regular. I've always liked him some, but he's not a .372 hitter and he'll need to show more on-base ability and power.
