Is there no end to the humiliation?  David Eckstein hitting it 390 feet!

I disagree.  We have plenty of pieces in place that are usable:

Morgan, Zimmerman, Dunn, Willingham, Flores.  By my count we need a SS, 2B, 1B/RF.  If Dukes can ever get his head on straight, that solves RF/1B and we just need to concentrate on 2B and SS for the starters.

We need depth more than anything else.  We have Harris as a viable backup and beyond that it's crap.

So for starting position players, we are only about 2 or 3 players away.  It's our depth and starting rotation that sucks.

The bullpen needs a complete reworking as well. If they don't do anything else, please, Nats. At least fix the bullpen.

I really don't care how good the players are. They don't win.

If our offense was so good then why are we 42 games under .500? It's not all the pitching's fault. not even close.

We need winning players.
I think you'll find that a competent pitching staff and we'll have players that win a lot more...

nope. this is not all the fault of the pitching. these guys are losers.

there is no rationalization or excuse for getting swept by the Padres in such dominating fashion.

It's hard to brag about the offense not being fixed when we are starting Orr, Maxwell, Gonzalez, Padilla, and Nieves all in the same lineup.

Ok, then re-explain to me why this series is better than the Marlins one!

good because there is no way to defend any other position in this case.

this team is toast. they don't know how to win. so resigned to losing.

at this point I am hesitant about us calling up the young kids from Syracuse because it will likely ruin them too.

We are building winning in the Minors but when these guys make it to the Majors they are exposed to the stench and losing that are the Washington Nationals.

which speaks volumes. if we had a good offense we wouldn't have to rely on these bums that belong in the Minors.

You STILL think this series is better, after this final performace???  I find that amazing!  Your mind hasn't been changed, even slightly?

I'll bet you're in the minority!

2 baserunners in 7 innings against Kevin Correia?

really?

this is a new all time low point in this team's gruesome history.

Those games early in the season demoralized the team.  Derailed any chance of being successful.  That's worse than anything we've seen this series.

Then this team has to be built around the possibility that he won't be here.  No player's absence should be this devastating to a team.

We need winning players.

Offense: 5th in the NL in OPS, 6th in BA, 8th in Runs

Pitching: 16th (last) in ERA, WHIP, BAA, and OPS against.

Definitely the offense's fault.

you can post all the stats you want but that doesn't mean the offense is good or anywhere close to being good.

they have a few big games a month and that's it. 9 runs total in their last 6 games.

this offense is equally to blame for this team being 42 games under .500.

There's no way they win 63 games, Rob.  No, it's not "doable".

Just got home and turned on the game. Why in the hell did this team even travel to Sand Diego? They should have just saved the money and forfeited the series. Riggleman obviously is clueless or doesn't give a crap with this "we surrender" lineup that he put out there today.
