What the hell? Ribs is bones, son.

They didn't have beef back ribs at Safeway. I need to go back to the Teet; I had a full rack ruined when the power went out :(

Browned them in a sauce pan, covered the bottom of a Pyrex dish in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, tossed them in the over for 45 minutes at 350. For that amount of effort, it was a nice payoff.

Pho 14 in Columbia Heights has replaced Pho 75 as my go-to Vietnamese soup joint.  Damn it is good...the broth has a nice hint of star anise (and perhaps cinnamon?), the pickled onions have just the right amount of snap, the noodles are filling, and the meat is sliced and cooked perfectly every time.

Green Papaya is fancy and the most innovative food I've had at a Vietnamese place. Ba Le sandwiches in rockville is awesome for Vietnamese subs.

Yeah, Roy's is known for their careful handling of extremely raw beef, right?

Yeah, that's over an hour away.  The ones in Frederick are only 30 minutes away, I just hate driving in Frederick.

Pho will cure what ails you...you can go on a two week strychnine and absinthe bender and wake up naked in a strange place with lots of new tattoos and be ready to go after a bowl of pho.

Haven't checked the whole thread, but there are some neat spicey jellies that they are selling now at Teaism.  A jalapeno / raspberry, a blueberry with cayenne and cumin, and a few others. Looked interesting.

Teaism of course sell the salty oat and chocalate salty oat cookies.  Were they shaped like spheres rather than disks, I think the latter would be worthy of an Isaac Hayes song.

I do not recommend trying to skewer raw brussel sprouts. I needed like three bandaids.

I want ham and bean soup like the churches around here make, not canned crap.  How can I make it?  I want to use my crock pot.  I've got a bag of beans, but no recipe.

Anyone have a good recipe for it?

Like churches make?  Um, say what?  Is that like bread line soup for hobos?

 around here churches often have benefits where they sell quarts of soup and sandwiches to raise money.  I figured that was a common thing.  I don't know how they do it, but it's heavenly ;)

They do a lot of Brunswick Stew sales around here.

I'd ask someone who makes the soup for the church. I am sure they would be happy to share the recipe.

Soup is one of the hardest foods to duplicate when you have something specific in mind. I doubt anyone can give you a recipe that will match that soup.

Now if you want good to great soup recipes, that is easy.

I just need a good soup recipe, preferable one that I can throw in the crockpot tomorrow and let cook all day.  I have my beans soaking over night.

Try this one. It worth grabbing the extras from a market or grocery. I only cook a fraction of the amounts but it comes out great.  :mg:
