Great game. Haven't been able to watch a lot this year, but I'm glad I got to see this one.

Scott Olsen is not a good pitcher. Too bad Marquis is injured, because that means we have to endure Scott Olsen for another few months.

haha you suck GMU/Coltsfan.  and i wanted to start the gameday thread.

Don't look now, but John Lannan is pitching like the 5th best pitcher on the staff. Scary Thought.

Capps = money.

Pittsburgh = idiots.

They also gave us Nook Morgan and took Hanrahan out of our 9th innings.  When we make the playoffs THIS October, we should reserve a section for Pirates fans.

I said that he may not be in the rotation by the end of the season, but he is a no doubt major leaguer. He'll be pitching here or another major league club at the end of the season.

I also said Olsen is a proven major league pitcher; wish I had made some avatar bets.  When was the last time a Nats starter had 8K's? Zimmermann last season, I think.

Scott Olsen wears the Elvis Hair as Player of the Game today.

I think you're playing with fire if you get rid of Lannan.

WTF happened to the Nats? It seems like karma is making up for bad luck last season.

On '88...ah, yes. "The" home-run...the fist-pump. Gimpy Gibson, the all-powerful A's. "the bash brothers"...the 'roid boys, we might now say.

There's a positive vibe around this organization right now.

I absolutely love it!

He has a lot of options, but not much more time to use them. It's just a hypothetical, but if he's really the 6th best starter, a lot of teams would love to have him, I bet.

No credit for Zim draft. Manny Acta would have drafted him. Marge Schott would have drafted him. A 4 year old would have drafted him. That's when you do a happy dance that a player like that falls to you and throw out your 1st round scouting.

Aww, Jimbo feels left out.
Good riddance, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

JimBo didn't draft Desmond. Though he does get credit for starting the hype machine on him.

Probably, but he's a pretty key figure in that clubhouse and I'm not sure that's the piece you mess with.  If he's the 6th best starter, I think I'd rather him work out of the pen than lose him to another organization.

Haha!  Zim didn't "fall" to us.  We had the 4th pick and the other 3 above him were concensus top 5 picks.  Look at that '05 draft.  Here's the top 12:

1. Justin Upton - Arz
2. Alex Gordon - KC
3. Jeff Clement - Seattle
4. Zim
5. Ryan Braun - Mil
6. Ricky Romero - Tor
7. Troy Tulowitski - Col
8. Wade Townsend - TB
9. Mike Pelfrey - NYM
10. Cameron Maybin - Det
11. Andrew McCutchen - Pit
12. Jay Bruce - Cin

That's a really successful top of the draft.

Zim is easily the best player on that list though. All I'm saying is that when they saw he was still available, there was no question. He was majors ready and everyone knew it.

You think he's better than Braun?

Braun is on the same path as Pujols.

I'd put Zimm safely second, though.

Zim is a more complete player.
