Metallica on the Lollapalooza 96 tour were awful. I saw then four times on that tour and they got progressively worse as the tour continued.  I blame most of that on Kirk "Wah Wah" Hammett though. Dude has sucked anus since 1989.

There is a concert every Monday and Thursday at Ft. Reno park in DC.  Mostly local bands.  Family friendly, too.

It's great that they brought it back - it used to be higher profile acts, and Fugazi would player every year

Do you remember the early 70s when AU used to have some good concerts in the amphitheater?

Bruuuuuuce!

Just got back.  He played from 8:20 to midnight.  Great show.  Only the 3d time I've seen him.  Opened with prove it all night, using the arrangement that dates back to 1978 or 79 (I posted a youtube of it from a theatre in Passiac I think that was terrific).  some interesting, unusual stuff.  They did a dixieland rendition of a song that I'm just now blanking on but it blew me away.  Did Spirits in the Night and Blinded by the Light.  Jackson Cage.  Some unusual selections.  Not anything from Magic or Devils and Dust, but 2 or 3 songs off the Rising (the Rising, City of Ruins, plus at least one other).  The horn section was terrific.  Clarence's son was great, but mostly stuck to recreating the sound and not really soloing.  As fro the latest album, the weakest song, I/M/O, was we take care of our own.  formulaic.

I'll leave it to others to fill for their impressions.  And damned if my memory is blanking on that song that featured the horn section - it was just outstanding and a song I know, but it's late and I'm getting up early to catch a flight.

The Land of Hope and Dreams (This Train....)?

He did a whole album on Pete Seeger Songs, so it could have been one of those!

Other song from the Rising.  Waiting for A Sunny Day!?

I  think it was Johnny 99.  Dixieland Iis the wrong word for it (friend said it).  All 5 guys in the horn section came forward onto the small center stage with Bruce.  Certainly a roadhouse feel.  I  found this from earlier in the tour, which is the arrangement.

Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg carried much of the show (non-Bruce division).

Not sure if there are any Umphrey's fans on here, but got a chance to see them play the other day.  A little trippy at times, but it was a lot of fun.  And really loud.

I've been to 12 or 13 Springsteen shows over the years and have a few dozen bootlegs. The sound quality Saturday night was by far the best I've heard at one of his shows. I think in terms of the setlist my top show is still Giants Stadium on 18 July 2003, but this one was right up there. One of the things I really appreciate is how he really makes such an effort to do a great show, doesn't go through the motions or anything even though I doubt too many people would be surprised if a performer his age did.

Taking my son to see Zoso, a Led Zeppelin tribute band, at the State Theater.  They're supposed to be the best of the genre, should be fun.

Sounds awesome! Give a breakdown of the show on here. I'd love to hear how good they are/aren't.

Will do.  His first "concert", I took him to see "1964: The Tribute" at the Birchmere.  I could tell he was skeptical but he ended up loving it.  It didn't hurt we had great seats beneath the best sound system in DC and they really crank out the early Beatles, basically a kickass bar band sound.  He had no concept of the difference between live and recorded music till that point, now he knows there's a quantum difference.
