I think Damian Jackson was actually a 2nd baseman but he would have stunk at SS too.

So I'll go Damian Jackson.

So apparently the 3rd run on Lannan goes down as earned.  I don't get that.  Didn't he go home on the bad throw by Desmond?

Without the awful throw you record the second out, even if he only gets either the force at 2B or the out at 1B, and Pence remains at 3B. The next batter grounded out which would've effectively ended the inning. So the run should be scored as unearned.

This is the most embarrassing loss of the season, not worst, embarrassing.  Based on the opponent and how poor we've played AND after last night, this is the most embarrassing.

Hunter Pence is at his best to cf/rf and Walker/Nieves pitched right into it

Yep.

Yep.

And yet you obsess for half an hour over why a career backup catcher can't drive in a gazillion runs against him?  I really don't get you dude.  You didn't used to be this crazy split-personality favorites-player.  It's like when SF left it upset the balance of the force and you lost it.

I hope Maldonado takes over for Nieves when Pudge comes back. They are equally scrubtastic.

Dunn's defense is awesome.

Tomorrow will be worse, though.

They'll be thinking about getting back to their "significant others", for those who don't have "significant others" in Houston.

Too bad Aubrey Huff isn't a Nat.  He's his own significant other.

Your explanation seems to contradict your conclusion.  Could you clarify for me?  If there's a man on third with 2 out, and the next guy grounds out...  no runs score.

7th   H Pence tripled to deep center, J Keppinger and L Berkman scored.

Nationals     1
Astronauts  5

I'm not on the Nieves-nag-a-thon but I do wonder how much other teams hitters are discussed.  Seems to me you don't give Pence anything to hit in that spot.

I've lost it, really? Way to single me out over the fact that Nieves is having a bad night. Clearly I was the only person noting so.

My bad. I meant to write the run should be unearned. I just wasted another one of my posts clarifying the omission of the prefix!  :bang:

I see what you did there. He's a modern day Albert Belle without the talent.

Oh please, don't try to play a victim.  I wasn't even being that harsh, just commenting.  You have clear favorites who you rarely say a negative word against, and guys you rail on all the time regardless of how well they play.  I'm sure several people here could name at least 3 of each.  I just think it's unfortunate.  You were a very balanced and reasonable poster when you first joined, and for quite a while after.  But you've just been someone else entirely for most of this season.

Just my two cents.  If you think I'm being unfair then feel free to ignore me

Why would I ignore you over it? I think you're dead wrong, but its your opinion... so have at it.

Would you care to take a bet on the matter to be settled by an impartial jury of your peers?

Wil Nieves is the worst player in baseball.

his name doesn't end in EZ though it ends in ES which could actually stand for.....  :icon_mrgreen:

Speaking of bad Nats catchers Paul LoDuca didn't do very well in Washington either.

I dunno, I suck at coming up with this stuff.  I'd rather you just admit you're a shameless Guzman-hater and Kennedy-lover :P

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem ;)
