I don't buy recruiting class ranks- Charlie Weiss consistently had top ranked class, and his number one quarterbacks have had trouble holding on to third string jobs in the nfl.

as far as discilipine, does that really help a team win? great teams tend to still have their share of arrests

Yeah, and I'd rather not have our share of arrests. And I'm not quoting rankings, I'm looking at the talent level of the kids coming here now vs those that came in the last few years. They are getting much more talent. Edsall has shown the ability to coach kids up and there's no reason to think he can't do it here. FWIW, I don't give a crap if we're producing starting qbs in the NFL, I want college qbs that win college games, NFL be damned.

Fridge's lesser talent did a good job of winning games- I'm not a Maryland fan, I liked fridge, and now I enjoy watching them flounder because they somehow thought they were better than they are and jettisoned a good coach because he wasn't bringing in enough revenue only to replace him with a guy who has the stadium emptier

I agree that you never what a kid will do until he steps onto the field, but Edsall does seem to be getting some good kids. He always did pretty well at UCONN, which is not exactly a football hotbed.

A little better view of the new helmets. The rumor is that this helmet is replacing the Maryland Pride helmet from last season.

again, i'm hearing the terps will be wearing as many as five helmets.  and a lot of the previews for this year feature the pride uniform with last year's pride helmets.

but again, the most important thing is product on field.

I'm as hate-filled as you about Edsall, but I'm not sure that was the only reason he was brought in. Fridge had a notoriously low graduation rate, and, believe it or not, Maryland is trying to increase its emphasis on academics. Maybe that's just a bullcrap story, but I've heard it.

Still, I liked Fridge and I'm sorry he's gone.

As poorly as I feel about Edsall, I'm positive about Turgeon.

Stop being a douchebag - its a legitimate comment - this is supposed to be a catchall, not a fashion show discussion

You'll just give the "too many threads" crowd more to nag about.

douchebag?

as usual, PA resorting to name call.  Very classy.  like UPS football!

i just said the uniforms don't matter it's about the product on the field.  MD wasn't good last year.

What is the reason for the Edsall hate? I just don't get it. I like the fact that he's running a tight ship and there appears to be a concern over graduation rates. I liked Fridge a lot too and he really did a lot to improve Maryland football, but what did he ever do with his own recruits? Edsall deserves the benefit of the doubt considering he's only been around for one season.

As for Turgeon, hell yeah! Bball looks good for the future.

Go thread nazi somewhere else PA. There was a handful of comments on Terps uniforms, get over yourself. And regardless, it's college football, something that's relevent in Maryland, but not so much now in State College.

Edsall has said crap about Fridge and the program he inherited (and managed to take from a bowl to one of the worst teams in the ACC). I like Turgeon a lot- I think in a few years, MD might be top of the second tier ACC basketball programs (they aren't catching Duke or UNC- the interesting question will be Syracuse once it makes the move)

I don't hate Edsall so much as I think they crap canned Fridge because he wasn't the ideal beefcake Kevin Plank wanted modelling his underwear.

Mathieu kicked off LSU for third failed drug test.

In the end, he lived up to his nickname... cause he just didn't give a crap.

it's ok, they have the acc rookie of the year from two years ago, oh wait, they drove him away. So are md fans giving Edsall three years to reach Ralph's final year win total?

Yup.  Great.

I'm guessing it likely wasn't the turf's fault, though, as the tweeter seemed to speculate.

Terrible break for Maryland, though.

Yep, terrible news. I was really expecting good things from CJ this year.
