We can crawl back into this game but they have to do something quickly.

Agreed.  And gotta shut the Cardinals down from here on out too.  Not gonna be easy.

Our pitching stinks.

Team ERA of 3.29, second-best in baseball.

What have you done for me lately

Reds, Braves, and Giants all have hotter pitching going into the playoffs. Not only do we not have Strasburg but the other 4 have all taken a step back from where they were early in the season.

I'm sure there have been many other starters pulled before retiring a single batter but this one by Randy Wells was awful by any standard. He threw only 16 pitches.  :lmao:

September team ERA: 3.55.
Giants September team ERA: 3.65.

The Braves and Reds have been red-hot pitching-wise in September - I'll give you that - but our offense is also second in baseball this month in runs scored while the Braves are 24th and the Reds are 28th.

:-[ what's a pitch-out?

Basically an intentional ball (like you would throw when intentionally walking someone) - this is done to make it easier to throw a potential base stealer out if you have a hunch they'll be running.

I could be wrong but I believe it's when a pitcher intentionally throws a ball way outside to give the catcher a better shot at throwing out a potential base stealer.

After seeing this disaster, I definitely don't want to see us in the play-in game. Anything can happen.

And of course the Braves are winning.

His recent line: 0-3 with an ERA over 6.  Yep, we're done.

Ross throws out Baxter at 2B to end the top of the 5th. Mets still scoreless. :|

We need Werth to go yard here badly.
