Forgot about having to worry about all that security stuff now.

Oh, that's right, I forgot some OSes don't have SSH built in :P

Yep.  No native disc image mounting, either.  I'm really hoping they'll add that for SP1, but I'm not holding my breath.  Virtual Clonedrive fills that niche very nicely, and is free.

Shrug.  I've gone without more often than not over the years and never had a virus.  I just run MSE now because it's so efficient and my computer is so fast (SSD, Core i7) that I don't miss the extra cycles/IOs.

I am still a little worried about SSDs.  I did opt for a mobo with SATA 6.0 Gb/s support, so I can add one in the future.

I'll probably go ahead and download Win 7 Ultimate tonight.  Might make a few Linux CDs while I'm at it to dual boot for fun.  Actually I might not have to DL Win 7 if I still have the image on my Mac, I forget if I deleted it the last time I downloaded it or not.

Only Windows + apps are on my SSD, all of my data is on a standard TB drive.  That said, I haven't had any problems with the SSD, and it's very fast.  SATA 6Gbps isn't really necessary to get the most of the majority of current SSDs.

Yeah, but sata 6.0 gb/s gives me a little bit of future room to grow.

And I can add an SSD later.  Great thing about a desktop PC over a Mac

TBH, the 1TB drive I bought is way more than I'll need.  My first Mac in 2005 had 250 GB.  I never filled that, and as I've transferred everything each time I've upgraded to a 320 GB iMac and now my 500 GB MBP, I've never come close to filling my HDD.

What happened to the pics?

Well yeah, there's no reason not to get SATA-III if you're building a new system now.  I just meant that there's not a thing wrong with SATA-II and the current crop of SSDs.  Even the fastest mainstream SSDs still haven't surpassed the limits of SATA-II on the write side of things.  And even then, sequential writes are much less common than marketing would have you believe.

I deleted the pics but if really want to see them I can run the tests again.

What are some good alternatives to iTunes?  I've heard that iTunes is crap on Windows, but I like the basic design and use of it.  What is an alternative to manage my music library?

I use it - the crappiness comes from the resource hogging, which you won't have a problem with.

Just because I have the resources doesn't mean I'll tolerate shoddy code.  I'll give it a try though.  Maybe Songbird too.  I like that Songbird can integrate with many different music stores.

Apple programs are generally bad on Windows.  Quicktime is the worst.  Safari is better now, though.

Also, the fact that it takes about a month from when you click on it to when the window opens.

directly?  Songbird looks like you can get those services built in, just like the iTunes store.

I thought that was for Android phones?

I like MediaMonkey.
i've read good things about it too.  I'll have to check out the free version.

I may end up just sticking with iTunes since I have an iPhone to sync anyway.

Yeah I can load it now too.  It wouldn't load for me a bout an hour though.  Probably just on my end.
