Hi guys - I'm a complete baseball novice so go easy  :-)  In the past year since I've been following baseball & the Nats, I've seen a lot about Strasburg.  If he's so good, why isn't he playing in games like tonight's?  Surely he can't do any worse?  Genuine question.

Nats management is claiming it's for his own good, but it has more to do with an baseball rule regarding players contracts. The Nats could lose a lot of money if they bring him up too early.

If I can find the article again, it explains the incentive to keep the best prospects in the minors.

Ok, cheers guys.  Glad I chose the Nats - I feel right at home supporting a team who never/rarely win.

Why would you even play Desmond tonight?

Does this confirm that he's not starting anymore?

It's a feeling you get used to.

I'm a fan of the Bengals, Timberwolves, Blue Jackets, and Nationals. Losing is in my blood.

There will be multiple answers to this question ranging from he needs to know "everydayness" to "getting an extra year of service time by starting him at a certain time" to various bullcrap weaknesses that aren't any worse than what the Jason Marquis' and Craig Stammens of the world are showing us now, but honestly, in my opinion, the front office freaked out and copped out. They have no idea what they have nor how to handle it.

Batista hasn't looked half bad out there.

I'd change my vote in the bullpen survivor thread.

No, there is a day game tomorrow, so maybe they wanted to give him the night off

What? He's not a catcher.

Plus they had an off day yesterday.

They had no reason to sit him tonight.

I assume you mean the Columbus Blue Jackets? How did you become a fan of them?

I ask because they are my "guilty pleasure" hockey team. I rock Caps red forever, but I am partial to the Blue Jackets because I have family up in Columbus and they have a young team.

So why can't the Nats have random dudes who can have 3 appearances with a 0.00 ERA? Too much to ask?

I'm from near Columbus and was living there when the Blue Jackets first came to Ohio.

They had a good season last year, but really dropped of this season. I think they can bring it back to playoff caliber again next year.

3 hours 14 minutes and this game was still shorter than most Red Sox-Yankees games.

Way too many guys to pick from in the Beachball category tonight.

I've got my work cut out for me tomorrow!

I've got family members in Pataskula. Been to a game up there once and I had a pretty good time.
