Anyone trying to protect Bernie is a fanboi and doesn't know how a suicide squeeze works.

You can't know what pitch is coming, but that doesn't mean you don't try to bunt no matter what.

You also can't blame Roger.  That pitch couldn't have been bunted.

Maybe not, but he gave no indication that he at least knew the play was on.

He didn't try.

But maybe you're right, maybe Roger knew the sign was on, but recognized he couldn't bunt.

That's a happier explanation, anyway.

Again, the result would have been the same, whereas if you don't call the squeeze, it's a 2-1 count for the next pitch, still a hitter's count.

The squeeze call had the stench of desperation.

I wouldn't have brought Stras out for the sixth. Need to conserve his innings. Cut off should have been five.

...meanwhile, Drew Storen's return to active play (in Harrisburg) is currently sitting out a rain delay.

Strasburg cruised through that inning, beautiful stuff.

MarkZuckerman: DeRosa on-deck to pinch-hit for Strasburg. Seriously, which guy is more likely to get a hit right now?

Seriously, let him hit for himself and pinch run if he gets on.

Strasburg out for the sixth. Davey lets him pitch more than Gio and Jordan.
Well, he is our best pitcher...

I get your point. But it's not the one I originally responded to, which was "that ball was in the dirt."

Why not let Stras hit there instead of DeRosa?

As someone who's been to a lot of ballgames recently I cannot subscribe to that theory.
