I know, I know, there's always a justification for not using 2 hands, but I just don't like it. I always feel better about fielders who like to make the final outs sure things.

Avatar with 1924 throw-back uniform reminds me of Nationals trivia found in Wrecking Crew of '33. Why was that uniform so plain? Roll ahead nine years and the Nationals/Senators/Griffmen wore the same uniform, with red and blue sox, and blue hats...without the 'W'

Why?

Because Clark Griffith was scrimping. He ordered the team -- probably one of his Robertson nephews -- to make sure that each uniform cost no more than $20. They had numbers by 1933, so they could not afford 'W's on the caps.

In case you're wondering, Moe Berg wore number 10 that year.
