Willie Harris replaces Roger Bernadina

The Nationals scratched Roger Bernadina and replaced him in right field and in the No. 2 spot in the lineup with Willie Harris. Manager Jim Riggleman had stuck with Bernadina following his game-ending base running gaffe Friday night.

"Three days ago when I planned the lineups for the next three days, Bernie was in the lineup," Riggleman said before Bernadina's scratch. "Period."

Riggleman reiterated his stance that he wants to put that play in the past.

"That play last night, it's over," Riggleman said. "It's a learning experience for all of us. For myself, to give him a heads up. For Bernie, to be aware that that could happen. It's even an education for our pitchers, to watch the committment that Frankie Rodriguez made to that play. He didn't make a half-hearted effort. He fired it."

Well let's hope Willie can continue to make the Mets hate him.

I don't understand that "Willie Harris replaces Roger Bernadina" quote at all.  Everything in it contradicts everything else in it.

If he planned his lineups three days in advance and Roger was in today's lineup then what changed?  And what's the "Period." for?  It makes no sense, unless he meant to say that Willie had been scheduled to play today, regardless, before last night, but he says that Roger was scheduled to play today.

Apparently Bernadina has a lower back injury.

You can't tell me umps don't squeeze Strasburg a ton. I swear to God they're back there trying to get attention giving him no strikes looking.

Not really.

I think he's been given a pretty good zone. Especially the first game... the ball could be within 2 feet of the plate and it was a strike.

I freaking hate the Mets. I know so many jerks who will cream their pants if they score more than 3 runs on Strasburg and talk crap for the rest of their life.

Game?

Probably. Stras looks like he doesn't have the control today and I doubt our offense produces more than 1 run.

Go back to the curve. Only threw it twice, and got a strike both times.

There's plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
