iOS blows dirty anii but the form factor of the iPhone is hard to beat.  Then again I am an Apple shill.

I'd say the exact opposite, the larger screen is a huge reason I'd make the switch (I'm actually a fan of the Note :bag:). Apple's bullcrap has been getting to me too- with the demise of mobile me, I decided to get an amazon cloud account - I'm switching my music library to amazon anyway. I went to upload all of the photos from my computer to amazon's cloud only to learn that iphoto no longer believes in individual files, apparently a few upgrades ago they went to a single file library, so I had to export my library to my computer (where it already resided) in order to upload it. Trying to find a work around, the only responses in support forums were fanbois talking about how it was great so that you couldn't screw up your files and how regular users don't like files anyway. I wouldn't care if I rarely took pictures, but with a 20 month old and another on the way, this is going to be a regular occurrence, and little things like that piss me off.

Yeah, I'm pretty tired of all of these werthless ecosystems that lock you into crapshows.  I really only use my phone for a couple of things - logging food, logging cycling, logging workouts, and music.  I will say that buying an iPad was probably a bad idea but I'll live with it until something better comes out.

cool use of google maps

If only Howard Carter had access to satellite imagery, maybe he would have discovered more than just King Tut's tomb. Fortunately, Google Earth means that anyone can examine the planet for lost treasures. Including Angela Micol, a satellite archaeology researcher who thinks she has uncovered previously undiscovered ancient pyramids, hiding in plain sight in Egypt. ...

It was Star Trek themed for the anniversary of the first episode airing, complete with a little point and click adventure.

Any reason I shouldn't buy a Asus Nexus? Love the form factor, display, like Android. Thoughts?

Yeah, but, I'll never need more than 16G. Browser, email, occasional e-reader when I forget my Kindle. One movie at a time, maybe, for travel.

Because you could get lesser resolution at a lower pixel density and pay $130 more for an iPad mini instead!

But in all seriousness, if you're looking for that form factor, and aren't tied to Amazon Prime video, it's the one I'd get.  I would have bought one a few days ago in fact, and had every intention to do so, but they were out of stock when I went to the store.

I may be the only person in the world,  but I actually prefer amazons skin to stock Android on tablets (then again I only use my Kindle for reading,  surfing,  videos,  and light gaming) -  I like the content carousel,  and once you put on opera,  you don't have to deal with silk.

I prefer my android ui as close to stock as possible, so I wasn't a fan.  Plus, can you get the Play Store or is it only the amazon app store?  That would also be a turn off to me and the stupid stuff I'd want to do with it

You have to side load it,  I like stock Android for a phone,  but I do a lot less with my Tablet.  Most of my apps are the daily freebies from the amazon store,  so there's that,  I just think for movies/tv/and Kindle content,  their interface is easier.  For mail,  calendars, weather, to do,  podcasts,  taking pictures...  (basically the crapper I use a phone for),  I'll take closer to stock any day

I hate that no matter what my next phone is, it's going to be a compromise.  Nexus 4 isn't coming to LTE, Galaxy Nexus is old, and everything else has a thick slathering of crapware.

Why doesn't anyone want my money?

gmail for iOS version 2.0 is out, the reviews on the itunes store say it is incredibly buggy, but the reviews on web sites that i've seen said it is a huge improvement.  Key for me is support for multiple gmail accounts.

update:  hmmm, the itunes store says it is no longer available.

Can I ask what happened (if you know)? I've never heard of people being locked out of their phone account and I definitely want to make sure that I'm not locked out of mine.

I can log into all my google crap from my laptop, but i can't log in from my phone. it keeps saying "wrong password" when it isn't. I've changed my password twice, and factory reset my phone twice to try and fix it.
