Anyone who sees a positive in the Ramos injury, even a silver lining is an idiot.  I'm a Flores fan so I'm happy to see him get some starts but this can only be viewed as a disaster.

Huh? So those of us who see the silver lining in Flores being able to show that he's an everyday catcher makes us idiots?

Spare me. If Wiki Gonzalez or Gary Bennett were still the backups, maybe you'd have a point.

The SSS take on the Ramos injury....

I cannot wait to see you try and celebrate this setback when Ivan Rodriguez comes back from retirement. ;)

Let me be clear, there is nothing positive about the Ramos injury.

The SSS feels the Ramos injury is at least as positive as the great reviews "Our American Cousin" got the morning of 4/14/1865!

Don't even bother. He apparently does not understand the whole silver lining thing. Or he's just trolling again. Whatever.

A little disappointed you didn't go with the "But how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"

too easy.  I thought going with the reviews the morning before they went to the show was less obvious.

Excellent. Predictability is boring.

Back to HRod, my opinion is that he is just about at the end of the rope with Davey. One more blown save and he's done as a closer.

Time to pile up the wins on the homestand. Stras pitches twice (Tuesday and Sunday) and I'm going to try to see both games. And I'm already going to the game on Friday vs. the O's. Believe it or not, this will be the first time I've seen the Nats play the O's.

back in first place, and at 14-5, the 2nd best home record in baseball (LAD is 16-4).  Overall, our .622 winning percentage is tied for 2nd best in baseball (again behind the Dodgers).

With all the injuries and H-Rod's drama, it's really hard to complain about where we sit right now.

last time I saw them was when Dunn hit the GS.  We were sitting under the scoreboard and watched it go into the utility area near the batter's eye.  Terrible seats.

The Rangers are a half-inning from winning the tie.

This team just has a different feeling to it. In years past, they would not bounce back this quickly from a terrible loss and there is no way they would be able to go toe to toe with the Braves for 1st place.

If anything, winning the east is even less important than it was in the past because of the additional wild card team, so I'm feeling really good about this team's chances right now.

SF thinks we're better now b/c he thinks Flores > Ramos :lmao:

I wanted Flores to start from day one, but I also like to see a catcher tandem that can do a 4-3 split over the course of the week to keep down the wear and tear of the position.

I posted in the General Offense thread, but the uptick in production has been enormous in May.  As bad as we were in April, we are near the top in SLG and in wRC+ (a geeky measure, for sure, but it is a comparison of our offense's performance to league averages).  Of course, our offense does not have to face our starting pitching, so that probably gives it a leg up on league comparisons.

"______ in baseball" is nice but it doesn't really mean anything.  Of course, I'd like us to be better than the O's and that means even less, so I understand where people are coming from

Baseball Prospectus had our playoff odds at 7% yesterday. Today the table's been wiped so everyone's at zeroes. They acknowledged earlier this week that, due to a coding bug, games previously played were actually not being counted toward teams' expected records.

ESPN has our playoff odds at 52.1%. I'd still give them maybe 25% myself.
