Bruuuuuuce!
Just got back. He played from 8:20 to midnight. Great show. Only the 3d time I've seen him. Opened with prove it all night, using the arrangement that dates back to 1978 or 79 (I posted a youtube of it from a theatre in Passiac I think that was terrific). some interesting, unusual stuff. They did a dixieland rendition of a song that I'm just now blanking on but it blew me away. Did Spirits in the Night and Blinded by the Light. Jackson Cage. Some unusual selections. Not anything from Magic or Devils and Dust, but 2 or 3 songs off the Rising (the Rising, City of Ruins, plus at least one other). The horn section was terrific. Clarence's son was great, but mostly stuck to recreating the sound and not really soloing. As fro the latest album, the weakest song, I/M/O, was we take care of our own. formulaic.
I'll leave it to others to fill for their impressions. And damned if my memory is blanking on that song that featured the horn section - it was just outstanding and a song I know, but it's late and I'm getting up early to catch a flight.
