wow. didn't realize they made changes to the Google Profiles.

I like the new look.

I just wish Google would come up with a good reason to actually have a damn profile

I left my PC running the uploader app when I left for work, currently up to 380 songs out of a lot more than 380 songs

At least I can listen to a few albums right now, so I'm jamming to Avantasia's Metal Opera Part I, Part II is also ready for when the first album is over :woop:

This is how it looks, pretty standard fare.

Also, I have no idea what Phish is but I give you a 98.5% probability that I would hate it :mg:

You have to see them live to decide if you dig it or not.  When I was in college I "followed" them one year.  Yeah, I rule.

Yes, on both counts.

Phish sucks but their keyboard player jammed with some metal bands IIRC

Phish is really awesome if you see them live.  Their studio records, outside of "Farmhouse", are horrible though.  The one thing I could always count on with a Phish show was a great time before, a great time during, and some hot chicks afterward.

I like that it holds a lot of music and easy access but 1) I wonder when/if ever it will support more than 20,000 songs. 2) The upload is slow is as hell 3) The interface is average. Yet it somehow seems the best option I have found.

It's better than YouTube or just downloading from Mediafire?

For me, sure. I can play song from my Nook Color (Android), travel without wasting hard drive space on a laptop, and access from each computer. I simplifies the file synchronization. I have a Diskstation at home with a few TBs storage but even though it streams to iTunes this is just easier. Granted I am assuming that at some point the uploading process will be complete therefore becoming less burdensome and that the interface will be get better. Very plain Jane UI right now, not easy to use, just limited.

For me, Youtube or Mediafire just don't cut it.

I guess this speaks to how infrequently I listen to music but what do you feel is limited about the interface?  Are we taking about the browser interface or the android app?

iCloud is the best solution IMO.  Well, really Lala was, but that's basically what iCloud is.

I really like the Andriod interface although I wonder how it will handle it when the account is full.

The web browser one is occasionally unresponsive, lacks sorting to the degree I would like (Name/Artist/Album/Play Count/Count is pretty basic), and playlist and random play is pretty rudimentary. Granted I have more than 20,000 songs that I am trying to sort.

I like Amazon's cloud players UI better but with the amount of music I have it would cost to much money. ($$$$)

It matches every song in your library to songs that are in iTunes catalog, whiter or not you actually purchased the song from iTunes.  They are instantly available in your iCloud at whatever itunes' bitrate is.

Only those songs that iTunes doesn't have or can't identify need to be uloaded.  It does cost $25 a year though, unfortunately.

Wait wait wait.

So you're saying that I could upload some crappy 64kbps 3rd-generation rip of a song and iCloud would automatically give me the full high quality iTunes version? :|

Surely they have some way of checking "legitness" if they're doing that.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.  They said anything live ripped will go up to 250kbps AAC (I believe)

Edit:  it's 256kbps AAC.

Interesting.  I'll still take "free" now though, especially considering Google will no doubt improve their service at a rapid rate (assuming it doesn't get sued out of existence).  This would be a lot harder choice if iTunes music still had DRM.  Since it doesn't, the consumer wins.

The reason you have to upload with google is that they have no agreements with record labels.  That's why they can't do what apple is doing yet I guess.

I just wonder if it's $25 a year every year or you lose your non iTunes songs, or you could cancel after the first year and all your songs were matched and remained.
