Heat send Shaq to Suns, pending physical

The Diesel is moving out.

The Miami Heat have traded center Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns for forward Shawn Marion and guard Marcus Banks, according to sources reporting to CBSSports.com Staff Writer Tony Mejia. The deal will go through pending league approval and if O'Neal passes a physical in Phoenix on Wednesday.

O'Neal, 36, is averaging 14.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. The Heat are off to the worst start in the NBA, sitting at the bottom at 9-37.

Team president Pat Riley refused to comment on the trade late Tuesday, but O'Neal has reportedly contacted a few Phoenix players. Riley had also denied rumors over the past week that Miami was tring to get rid of Shaq's contract in order to clear salary cap space.

Miami will get better w/ this trade, IMO. Marion's a bad man!

If Shaq can get healthy the western conference playoffs are going to be that much nicer to watch. And just think if Jason Kidd goes to Dallas it will be sick out west

Are you implying that it's possible for them to get worse?  In South Florida, all the Heat, Panthers and Marlins want to do is have a better winning percentage than the Dolphins.  Thank G*d for the Panthers - they're only in next to last.  We're going for the distinction of having 4 major sports teams whose combined winning percentages  are below 100%.  Currently, the Heat, Fins, and Panthers total 66%.  If the Marlins lose 109 games, we're there!  And, if the Marlins do go 53-109, they would still have the 2nd highest winning % in South Florida. :woop: :woop: :woop:

Of course, they could shatter the record for the most dismal season in MLB history, and have the 2nd highest winning % in South Florida.  :icon_frown:

Life is tough on sports fans down here, but I do like this trade.  Then again, if the Heat had traded Shaq to the Marlins for Uggla and Amezaga, both teams would be better off than where they are now.

^ funny thing, though, is that Miami is only (that's right, only) 10 games out of the playoffs right now. They'd be in a lot worse shape (about 20 out ) if they were in the West.

Bad trade for Phoenix.  Shaq is fat and old and slow. He will hurt them.

Houston needs to make a trade. We need an upgrade at tha pg spot. Rafer wont get it done, he's too inconsistent.

We need to get Kidd, but i dont want to mortgage tha future for Kidd.
