Scott Swaim is the jackass that did the whole MLBInsideNews thing about Fielder. So that Tweet is a joke.

Would be a nice way for the Nats (or any team, really) to use savings from the revamped draft system.

Makes sense because he's 19, I guess.

He turned 20 in February.  I'd much rather get Gustavo Cabrera after July 2nd.  He's four years younger, will be much cheaper, and profiles as a CF.

That's a shame.  Now I have to hope he's a huge bust.  Wish he could have gone to Tampa or something.

i absolutely love cabrera.  i've read that he's been compared to justin upton, that he plays all out all the time, and one scout has speculated that he's the most talented 16 year old ball player in the world.

lol  Not going to happen with the Nats. The savings go directly to Lerner's vault.

Except that starting July 1 (or 2?) there is a revamped international signing system where basically all 30 teams are capped at about $3M. So, there's no place to spend any savings.

It went very fast but I believe I saw a ribbon that said the Cubs signed Soler.

I'd rather have both

Lerners are too cheap for marque international free agents. This will bite us in the ass now that the draft is on a budget. Hopfully someone can explain it to the board.

I thought the international market was going to be capped now as well? Soler is gonna be one of the last big international signings.
