Harper should have had that if he jumped.

thankfully the NL East isn't as good as many expected so we're still 4 games up on 2nd place even with this loss

Yep, it looks like all five NL East teams will lose today.

If we get swept at home (and I don't hold much hope right now) then that's pretty sad, regardless of who we're playing.

Teixeira crushes a double. Gorzelanny serving up BP.

The game is slipping away, just like it did on Friday night.

Yup a sweep is a sweep. It makes it more maddening that it's the Yankees but it's still a really pathetic series either way. How could they go from going 6-0 on a tough road trip to getting raped in the ass on their home field in three straight games?

Why the hell would you take Gorzellany out. The team wasn't going to win this game.  Let him eat the innings and save the rest of the bullpen for the Rays series.

1st   M Teixeira hit sacrifice fly to center, D Jeter scored, C Granderson to third, R Cano to second.   1   0
2nd   Adam LaRoche homered to right.
5th   C Granderson homered to right.
7th   R Cano homered to center.

                  New York Yankees        3
Washington Nationals  1

Yesterday was the first time this season the Yankees won without a HR.  They were 0-12 before that, per Ch&Dv

Fastball right down the middle. Getting behind in the count, you are going to get beat every time by this Yankees team.
You just freaking posted a Cano homer is better than a walk

Good thing we have another needless off day tomorrow to give us plenty of time to stew on this embarrassing sweep. :? :hang:

That's basically what the Red Sox and Blue Jays said too.  It's baseball it happens and the Yankees are really, really good.  The Nats are still a really good baseball team.  Part of the learning process for a young squad.

meh the past two games have been very close, and Lidge is the reason Friday's game looked like a blowout.  fact of the matter is if the ump wasn't blind the series would be 1-1 right now.

Cano solo HR off 2-0 Gorzelanny pitch. He's reached base in 10 of 13 plate apps this weekend.

But they don't know how to hit. This is a serious problem. Going to need a miracle to beat two more AL East juggernauts in Tamp and Baltimore. We could be looking at 0-9 in this stretch.

Again Bob, I prefer the half empty stadium with the team playing well rather than this sellout crap we've been served up this weekend.

Well it would have been sweet if the team had actually stepped up and gave the fans a reason to be excited and come back.

To be fair to Lidge even though he was bad, if not for some bad errors by the defense the game wouldn't have ended up such a blowout.
