my hope is that by the end of this season, Zimmerman will widely be considered as the best player in baseball.

Like the plan there except I'd move Lannan to the pen and keep Stammen in the rotation if things stay close to how they are now.

Yeah, I was originally a proponent of moving Stammen to the 'pen because he seemed to get noticeably worse the second or third time through the line-up last year.  He really seems to have fixed that this year.

He still has the problem of giving up too many gopher balls, and that is not what you want in a reliever.  Lannan has a knack for inducing DP's, pitches well with runners on, and doesn't give up quite as many homers.  That makes him the more valuable commodity out of the 'pen.

.413 BA and a .973 OPS for Pudge this month. Insane.

.287/.374/.460 month for Morgan. Those numbers surprised me.

It's also nice to have another LHP in the pen.  I could see a real logjam at that role though as English and Slaten likely will deserve a look.

Slaten's off the 40 man. It's Jesse's job to lose.

I expect Bruney, Batista, and Tavares to open up a few spots, and Walker may do so as well.  Of course, those three could be Wang, Detwiler and Zimmermann, but I think we'll see some moves in mid to late July that open up a spot or two.

The Nats are becoming less and less of a joke now.   No more "natinals" as they love to say on ESPN.

RESPECT is coming like a freight train.  Get on or get the ^%&$# out the way!!

I drafted Nook Morgan in Round 5 of the WNFF Fantasy league live draft.  He batted .305 in 2009, so he was slumping in April this year.  I really wish he'd stop getting thrown out stealing...

I don't like carrying two catchers, but Pudge was too consistent for too long to let him sit on waivers.  I actually started Pudge in my DH slot a few times!  The catcher I drafted just went on the DL, so I'm REALLY glad I got Pudge now!

Nats won their 13th game on May 21st last season - Game #41
That puts them 18 games ahead of last season's pace

Most successful April since the move - 13-10, slighrly better than the 13-11 of the 2005 debut season.

How long it took to notch that 13th win in each of the prior seasons:

2005 - 30th April vs Mets (13-11)
2006 - 14th May at Braves (13-25)
2007 - 14th May vs Braves (13-25)
2008 - 3rd May vs Pirates (13-18)
2009 - 21st May vs Pirates (13-28)

ALSO - Last night's win in the opener of this Florida series means that the Nats will make it till at least 2nd May without having been swept in a series - the deepest they've ever gone into a season since the move without that having happened.

 Walker is solid and durable. Batista is very useful as an arm that can be pitched into oblivion if needed, and his numbers have been reasonable for a garbage time specialist.

Bruney is a very talented pitcher slumping.

Tavares is a AAA player. Seems like a cool guy, but his play says DFA.

I moved the rotation discussion to the clubhouse so that it can continue:
