We may be done in this game.

We were done in this game when Kearns and Belliard were put in the lineup together.  Putting them back-to-back, guaranteed it.

As you said, it was 2-0.  He probably wasn't thinking sinker.  He probably thought he got a fat one and he thought wrong.  Not many pitchers have the huevos to throw sinker on 2-0.  The fact that he shattered his bat tells me it went off the end of the bat.  That = Great Pitch.
sinker = his fastball. That's all Johnson throws. Of course he is going to throw his best pitch on a 2-0 count. Mid 90s sinking fastball.

that's even truer than what I said. yep, we were done before the game even started. :(

That ball moved WAY too much to = fastball.

You're just blinded by Dunn-hate.

i meant like roster threads where you try to say who should be sent down/called up.

with this team though we are so bad that we could use changes every few days. :?

yeah that's why it's fun to do these every once in a while, instead of just venting in gameday threads.

As a person who has seen a fastball and a sinker - they are NOT the same pitch.  One moves down, the other moves sideways.  If you DVR'ed the game, go back and watch the pitch again.  That ball moved down and away from Dunn like a screwball.  That's a very tough pitch to handle.

we need more athletes on this team. the only athletic players we have are Dukes (first and foremost), Zimmerman, A. Gonz, Hernandez, and Harris.

two seam fastball moves down and away. a two seamer is essentially a sinker.

not many sinkers just go straight down, they usually move in towards a RH batter too (thrown by a RHP).

Bases loaded, zero outs, twice and we get two runs out of it.  Unbelievable.

You can't blame Martis for this loss.

lol the freakin orioles are laughing and joking around in the dugout.  now that hurts.  i know both clubs are terrible, but when you have the orioles laughing at you.

it's okay we get to hear the played out:

manny- "our guys battled, we're getting there"
rizzo- "love our minor league system"
kasten- "come out to nats park, i don't care what team you are rooting for.  oh and the plan is working and no comment on whether manny acta is going to continue to be our manager"
lerner- "oh it's very discouraging to see us lose." (while counting their money)

no both the offense and pitching gets the blame today.  he gave up 4 runs.  just like detwiler last night.  the offense messed up big time too, but still you can't give up 4 runs in 5 innings.

Belliard, Kearns and Gonzalez in the ninth. Not exactly Murderers' Row. :bag:
