Seems like weeks since there's been a game.    With the rainout Friday, the turd on Sunday and yesterday's day off, let's roll MDS.

A warning: these Mets are much better than the team the Nats beat in NY in the second series of the season. They hit.

Here's hoping that Michael Morse hits a couple of home runs, and that R Zim contributes (as a hitter).

Interesting mix of hitting stats the Mets have thus far - dead last in the NL in home runs and stolen bases, yet they're tied for the lead in doubles with 105 and their team BA of .260 is the NL's fifth-best.

We should be able to score on them though - only the Cubs, Brewers and Rockies have a worse staff ERA in the NL than the Mets' 4.25 - at least till we face Dickey on Thursday afternoon.

If I'm remembering right, Chris Young dominated the Nats last year before he went down with his shoulder injury.

We went up against him twice last season - in neither of them was he the pitcher of record:

10th April away - W 7-3 (11) - Young went 7 innings allowing 1H, 1ER, 2BB, 5SO (four-run 11th won for Nats)

26th April home - L 4-6 - Young went 4 2/3 innings allowing 4H, 3ER (on three solo homers), 2BB, 3SO (score was level at 3 when he was pulled; Mets won with 2 runs in 6th and another in the 9th)

Chris Young is an extreme flyball pitcher.  If the Nasty Nats can properly ignite their Natitude it could raining in the bleachers tonight.  His initial are also CY so we could also get shutout with 15Ks just as easily...

That 10 April game must be the one that I'm remembering.  Young hasn't pitched in a while and is coming off surgery so maybe we do well against him.  Hopefully Morse finds his groove tonight.

The Mets bullpen is very shaky. Knock out the starting pitcher and you are good to go.

It's a shame they no longer have Heilman.  It was always a laugh when the Mets fans would see him starting to warm up and head for the exits.

I like that they would stay around to give "Big Game" Ollie a standing booing.

Other than Zimmerman batting third, which I never thought I'd consider a negative, about as good a lineup and ordered as well as possible given our current roster. At this point, I'd switch Morse and Zimmerman. That would be, until Zimmerman gets his head back, the *ideal* lineup. But so long as Zimmerman doesn't GIDP Harper as seems to be the fear, I'm fine with it.

Eh, I might hit Desi 3d and slide RZ, LaRoche and  Morse back one slot each.

Basically go two righties in row at 3d and 4th rather than 5th and 6th.   Desi's contact works after a couple of speedy guys in front of him.  If it's 1-2-3, then RZ leads off and he can work a walk OK.

I hope we slap the crap out of the Madoffs tonight.  Shameless bastards even tried to steal Gary Carter.

Morse can definitely regain his timing against Chris Young.

at this point, sliding Zimmerman would probably be viewed as a personal insult- I'd give him at least a few more series before moving him

Well, he did come out and say "right now, I stink"...I think he'll manage a little lineup slide.
