Perez is the real deal and has a seriously cool afro.

what are you talking about?  He looks just like Jeff Kobernus (see above).  :)

the pfitz sucks and it doesn't surprise me if there are problems like that.

what they should do is just renovate the park in phases, like harrisburg did.  work on the side bleachers/concourse this year, during offseason, work on the grandstand/press box/dugouts.

There is no renovation that will fix its stupid orientation. Why on earth someone saw fit to placing a stadium in a way that the sun blinds the batter from down the LF line between 6 and 7 PM is beyond me

The sun is really brutal there.  Never, ever sit on the 1st base side on a hot sunny day.

The drainage at the Pfitz has always been terrible. I find it amusing that they found a way to make it worse

The Pfitz has been condemned by MiLB (for the time being).

http://www.masnsports.com/byron_kerr/2011/04/potomac-will-move-next-series-with-keys-to-frederick.html

Damn, I saw that condemned and you got my hopes up. That PoS ballpark should have been condemned a decade ago. They'd be doing the fans, players and community a favor ruling it be condemned permanently, and tear the trashy trash hole down. I don't know how it hasn't been condemned years ago. Unfortunately they'll just fix these drainage problems and magically all is right with the worst ballpark out there. One of these days they'll wise up, tear that monstrosity down, and give us a legitimate ballpark. Certainly one worth of being so close to such an affluential area. It's ridiculous that this ballpark, near one of the richest areas in the world, makes minor league parks in Podunk, Arkansas look like palaces by comparison.

i wonder if/when we get a new spring training stadium, we move our single A advanced team to florida state league.

but i like the fact we have a team 30-40 minutes from our parent club.  but they really need a new park.  i know i'm a broken record, but pfitz is a broken stadium.

One of the best ballparks in America, no exaggeration, is in State College, PA. PW county is just sad.

Its Pw park authority land.  State wont help the county.  They didn't help Richmond either.  Not sure Silber can afford a total renovation on his own.  They don't even have a spot on the website anymore regarding a new Stadium.

I mentioned this earlier, but we were there for opening day and the outfield was in horrible shape with gouges that ran from the LF foul line toward the middle of CF.   I guess that's what they were referring to.

an update from Kerr:

Quote
Also, I can update you on the field conditions at Pfitzner Stadium. You can see in right field an area where there are dark green lines in football yard line style. This is where the grass has now grown up around the new drainage system that was installed during the off season. The left field and center field drainage systems had been installed before the 2010 campaign.

It makes one wonder if the field will be in good enough condition for No. 1 prospect Bryce Harper's arrival, or will the phenom hitter just bypass Woodbridge, Va., for Harrisburg?

The field looks playable now. They are also constructing an addition to the home clubhouse that will give the players and coaches a little more room to operate.

We went to last night's game to see Zimmerman, they drew a good crowd, probably at least 1,200 people.  $1 grandstand and $1 hot dog night, and the dogs were pretty good.  The field is in the best shape I've seen it this year (granted, this was only our third game).  The clubhouse expansion seems to be about finished.

They also now have their own "clint" who goes around the stadium for different between inning contests, and they have a roving camera that shows live fan shots on the big screen.

Things are definitely improving, though it would be great if they brought back Ben's Chili Bowl.  Still, for $6 we had 3 dogs and got 3 tickets.
