Nationals vs Marlins, Game 3
« Topic Start: April 04, 2007, 10:04:56 AM »

April 4th, 2007 - RFK Stadium, 1:05 PM

Anibal Sanchez
0-0, 0.00

Matt Chico
0-0, 0.00
Sanchez enjoyed a terrific
rookie season, in what really
was pitching for just over a
half a year at the big-league
level. Called up from Double-A
in late June, Sanchez became
the Marlins' fourth rookie to
post 10 or more wins in 2006.
His crowning achievement last
season was his Sept. 6th no-
hitter against the D'backs.

Hanley Ramirez (SS)
Dan Uggla (2B)
Miguel Cabrera (3B)
Mike Jacobs (1B)
Josh Willingham (LF)
Miguel Olivo (C)
Joe Borchard (RF)
Alenjandro De Aza (CF)
Anibal Sanchez (P)
It doesn't matter what Chico
does, Manager  Manny  Acta
always praises him  for how
he handles himself against
the top big-league hitters.
The team also likes the fact
that Chico doesn't rely just
on his fastball when he is in
trouble on the mound. Chico's
first big test will come
against the Marlins.

Felipe Lopez (SS)
Kory Casto (LF)
Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
Austin Kearns (RF)
Dmitri Young (1B)
Ryan Church (LF)
Ronnie Belliard (2B)
Jesus Flores (C)
Matt Chico (P)

I'm unlocking the thread a little early today since I know neither Sens nor myself are going to be here (rather at RFK hoping for a win).  Ken or 2k6 if one if you is going to be around, feel free to re-lock the thread until game time and delete this message.

Zimmerman and Church are the ONLY players in the Nationals lineup who started in the first Nationals game in 2006.  Nah, they put Schneider in for Jesus...

The thing that worriesd me the most about our pitching was the calling by the umps. I mean when you have the media saying that we have the worst rotation fo all-time and then some unproven, you got to think thats goin be in the back og the umps mind when calling for our pitche, and consequently we won't get that many calls in our favor....

What yall think

...and cody ross hits an upper-deck HR.

His name is "Cody?"  He's gotta be yelling "Top of the world, Ma" with a shot like that.

James Cagney, playing Arthur "Cody" Jarrett in White Heat

Chico had bad luck with that two-run homer, but he really went to town on the next batters to end the inning.  He's not doing that badly.

If the pattern holds up the Nats will drop this one to the fish 9-4... meaning that at the current incremental pace we will win our first game Tuesday against the Braves 10-9... if the pitching remains consistent  :?
