We don't have to report until Thursday, which sucks.

According to Zuckerman, they report today, get physicals tomorrow and start formal workouts on Thursday.
I've switched to my Nats lanyard at the office and am breaking out the Strasburg and Rodriguez bobbleheads for display (get it, pitchers and catchers....don't you hate people who have to explain their jokes??

Schedule on official MLB site says P&C report tomorrow.  Not sure if that means the first official workout is then or if it'd be Thursday...

H-Rod already with a "delay" in his schedule due to prior surgery. As we all know... this is just a way to stash him on the DL to start the year so the team doesn't have to lose him.

Quote
While Strasburg kicked off his spring throwing program, Henry Rodriguez has yet to do so.

Rodriguez, who had surgery on his right elbow in late August to remove a loose body, said he feels better but is not 100 percent just yet. The flame-throwing righty hopes to get on a mound soon and compete for a spot in a crowded Nats bullpen, but he'll need to get clearance from the training staff before doing so.

Keep living the dream based off one great inning, big guy!

I see him on the DL for 60 days. Just a way to stash him .Then draw and quarter him because his blown saves cost us 100 wins.

The start of spring training was delayed for a day, they didn't make a big announcement and they didn't release the reason for the delay.  (Saves a ton on per diem other expenses.)

An artsy video of the Nats getting Viera ready: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=25593623&topic_id=7617268&c_id=was&tcid=vpp_copy_25593623&v=3

Man, makes me really wish I was able to go to Spring Training, unfortunately it's not working out this year.

Would anyone who has posted that they are going to Viera mind if Steve Hendrix from the WaPo PMs them?  He's putting together a story on the surge in interest in the Nats spring training and would like to possibly meet folks at the first ST game if you are down.

You can also post in the thread Steve started:

The Post's James Wagner reports on Christian Garcia:

Quote
His curveball is great,” Johnson said. “If I was to grade his stuff, I’d have to have him real close, stuff-wise. Fastball, great movement, mid-90s. He threw some 97 mph sinkers last year that were unhittable. Threw some off the best changeups, as good as Stras. Stras’s is harder. When he keeps it down, it’s unhittable. His curveball might even be better than Stras. It’s a knuckle curve.”

The ST plan is to let him throw a few innings at a time and see how he does.

yeah, but Garcia doesn't have a habit of bouncing his curveball on the grass.  he just blows up his elbow every few years.

Except one actually has the stats to prove it... and one has one inning from 2011 to base his entire career on.

There should be a thread on what made up injury HRod will get before starting the season.

My guess is inflamed palette due to eating pizza that was too hot which then caused him to bite part of his cheek and tongue.  The pain is too much for him to pitch.
