--------
Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs rained out Monday so this is a good opportunity to take a pause and check out first baseman Chris Marrero as he continues to swing a hot bat.
Marrero is batting .305 through 91 games, with 20 doubles, nine homers and 49 RBI. He has hit 44 homers in the last two and a half seasons and increased his average from .284 in 2009, to .294 and now at .305...
--------
Kerr misses the more interesting thing than the slight average creep. He has his highest OBP since rookie league this year, .373, and he has kept his K% below 20% the past 2 years.
For continued fun,
this guy had these numbers his first full season in AAA. He was about 10 months younger and a lefty, but it was in Oklahoma City, in a hitter's league and park.
PA BA OBP SLG K BB HR
Marrero 391 .305 .373 .439 65 37 9
Comp 508 .304 .364 .457 73 39 12
Comp developed into a pretty good hitter. Others have picked up on the similarity of the numbers offensively before.
