Another Great Story!

This is what America should be all about.  It's bull when men and women serve overseas in a hostile piece of sh*t country for a year, lose limbs (and/or suffer psychological damage) and come home and are expected to go on with life as usual.  Screw that.  The government should provide these people with whatever the hell they need, instead of the crackheads they give our tax dollars to.

Not disagreeing with you but do you have a citation for tax money going to crackheads?

When I mentioned crackheads, I was using the term figuratively

There was a picture on A1 of March 31st's Washington Post that pretty much tells you everything you need to know.   Couple of us old farts at work and my buddy in King George talked about it all day.   If you look closely, it has a lot of "story".    We have it pinned on the wall.    When we think we're having a bad day, we just look up.     These guys are carrying a buddy to an evac helicopter.   From Getty Images:

All politics aside, the enormous waving flag yesterday was visually stunning, no? At least SOMETHING was well-planned and well-executed. Plus the God Bless America singer had some serious pipes!

The flag was really awesome, as was the band.

Yea Navy!

When I was a kid Mom & Dad took us to Norfolk to tour a ship.  Got hooked on Dixie cup caps and MIDI shirts.  I also worked 4 the Navy, so I was cheering the Navy Band!

The Huge Flag was STUNNING!

A close family friend was Commander Brendler, who was the conductor of the Navy Band when I was a kid. My trombone teacher, the late  Larry Weihe, was trombone soloist in the Navy Band. We used to go down to the old Watergate barge for the summer concerts.

My grandfather became a US citizen thanks to the US military (specifically the Army).  The only one in the fam that did it, sadly.

piggybacking on what everyone's said, thanks for your service.  have had lots of family in the past who have served, it means the world to american citizens back at home.

one thing the nats do well is honoring the military.

Thanks man.....I'm glad to be back. Life has been busy, but I've got some more free time now to chill out on the board a little.
