But for the chance of passing on a virus, I'd post an Anna Chapman picture here as a reward from PUTIN!

Shortest GDT of the season to date (this is the 178th reply).

ANYWAY...

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 80th win, each season:

2012 - 31st August (131st match of season)
2005 - 27th September (158th match of season)
2011 - 28th September (161st match - final win of season)
---
2007 - finished 73-89
2006 - finished 71-91
2010 - finished 69-93
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Wednesday 31st August 2005 saw the Nats split a doubleheader at Atlanta, the Braves winning the opener 5-3 and the Nats taking the nightcap 4-3...record now 69-64...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250831215 and http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=250831315

---

I always knew we'd have a chance in this series...but what in bloody blazes is wrong with the Cardinals? Four consecutive matches without an earned run scored? And getting walloped in each of these matches? With a wild card berth on the line?

Beware the next game. The Cards are not oatmeal. They can hit.

(But the gallant Filles beat the Braves in the 10th, so Washington leads by 6 1/2 games this morning.)

Berkman's getting re-activated today and Lohse is starting for them...in theory at least this should be a bit more competitive.

Wainwright is a Cy Young candidate and they pounded him. Why should nagass Lohse be any more difficult?

Lohse is 14-2, he doesn't lose period.

Wainwright is considered the staff ace, not Lohse...as a matter of fact, Lohse is unlikely to be back with the Cardinals next season.

We should sign him to replace Edwin. He is an unbeatable ace.
