Desmond needs to learn how to hustle.

He's had a problem with that.

Yeah, he "hot dogs" it from time to time, which is another rookie habit he needs to break.

PUDGGGGE!

?  everytime i've seen him he's hustled other than that pop fly to the catcher where he just stood there (which was really, really bad ... totally inexcusable).

He jogged down to first on the Weeks play.

He should of been waiting at second base just in case Weeks dropped it.

Rob and Bob called him out on it.

There has definitely been other incidents.  Dibble even went off on a rant about it one time and said that Desmond should get benched if he doesn't hustle it out every play.

He does hustle on like 98.5% of the plays, though.

Willingham wasn't guaranteed to move from 2B on that play. It could have been ugly if Willingham didn't run

Yeah he could have. They showed him... and when Weeks dropped it, he almost made it to second before turning around... and that's when Bob and Rob said that if he had run, he'd have been at second.

yeah but i've also heard dibble go back and say desmond plays hard and the right way.  he's like john kerry sometimes ... he'll say one thing and then go back and say something totally different next time out haha.

And btw, I'm not making an excuse for ID ... I just didn't see the rest of the play.

Dibble just says whatever he wants, I think most of us know that by now.  I think the only regular poster that it actually bothers is Ronny.

Yeah, I'm not writing what Dibble said as gospel or anything.  I've observed Desmond just watching the ball sometimes and just mentioned that he needs to clean that aspect of his game up.  No rookie is a perfect player (is any player a perfect player?), there is always going to be areas for improvement.

haha I love Dibs.

The best is when a light hitting middle infielder comes up and Dibble gets ticked at how our pitchers approach them.  He gets so mad.
